Friend, Next week marks ten years since the start of the Flint water crisis. What followed was a series of government failures and corporate abuse that led to prolonged lead and bacteria contamination in the water. The people of Flint have been living with the impacts of these decisions since. From former Governor Rick Snyder, whose anti-democratic emergency management system led to the crisis, to the private water corporation Veolia, which told the city its water was safe despite privately acknowledging the potential for lead contamination1, far too many have escaped accountability for their roles in the crisis so far. [Meanwhile, and most importantly, the people of Flint still don’t have access to safe, reliable drinking water.]( And a federal judge recently found the city in contempt of court for its failure to replace lead pipes. Flint residents continue to pay the price with their physical health, emotional well-being, and pocketbooks. Justice delayed cannot become justice denied. [That’s why we’re asking you to sign a petition to Michigan’s Attorney General, Dana Nessel, demanding that she hold Veolia and all other responsible parties accountable for their role in the Flint water crisis. Will you add your name?]( Demand accountability and justice for the people of Flint [ACT NOW!]( Thursday, April 25 is the 10-year anniversary of the day the state-appointed emergency manager pushed through the switch of the city’s water supply, marking the start of the water crisis. And members of Flint Rising, our grassroots partner in Flint, will deliver these petition signatures to AG Nessel to demand she take action. Let’s make sure the water crisis in Flint isn’t forgotten. [Urge AG Nessel not to give up on justice for Flint.]( Stand in solidarity with the people of Flint and uplift their demands for AG Nessel to: - Hold Veolia, the public officials, and all other responsible parties accountable for their roles in the crisis. - Use her power and influence to ensure that the Flint lead pipe settlement of 2017 is fulfilled through the replacement of all lead pipes at no cost to Flint residents. - Meet with Flint residents in an open community meeting to hear their concerns and answer their questions. [Add your name and help amplify the voices of the people of Flint who are demanding justice for 10 years of poisoned water.]( [Neil Gupta] Onward, Neil Gupta Pronouns: he/him/his Water Campaign Director Corporate Accountability [Give Now!]( 1.
