{NAME}, Iâm proud that Iâve made my way across MT-01 to meet with voters about the issues weâre facing. But thereâs one topic that seems to always come up: the skyrocketing costs of housing. Itâs no secret weâre seeing unprecedented growth in our state. That should mean more opportunity for Montanans. Instead, weâre facing uncertainty and a housing crisis thatâs pushing long-time residents out of state. Some of us -- like Frank who I spoke with at Mooseâs Saloon in Kalispell -- have been forced to work two-full time jobs just to make ends meet.

(Moose's Saloon, Kalispell) Stories like Frankâs arenât uncommon, and itâs unacceptable that life for so many has turned into a daily struggle to remain in the place they grew up in and love. Itâs the same struggle my family faced in Bozeman when I was a kid. My dad was commuting from Bozeman to Great Falls just to find a job that could support our family, and eventually we had to leave because it just wasnât affordable. We work more hours, spend less time with our families, and the rise in homelessness has many worried about the future here. Itâs heartbreaking, and we canât allow this trend to grow any more than it has. In Congress, I will fight to make sure working families who live in Montana can afford to stay -- and not by barely making ends meet, but by actually thriving with access to high-paying jobs and a real opportunity to prosper.
