Hereâs how one of our members used [our forum](=) to help create, edit, and rewrite a successful Facebook ad (that ended up becoming it's own separate business). â â
Kyle Guilfoyle runs a bartender training program in Victoria, BC. [Kyle and his co-founder Nate] That is Kyle on the right and his co-founder Nate, left. â â
Kyle wanted more people to buy their program and attend live training classes: [Students at Nimble Bar] Students at Nimble Bar Coâs training Kyle decided to try and get sales with a Facebook ad. It ended up doing so well that he eventually started another business running Facebook Ads for clients ð¬ This stemmed from a post on our [Copywriting Course forums](=) asking for some help on a Facebook Ad. This chain of events led to Kyle now owning two companies:â
â1.) Nimble Bar: A training company.
â2.) Guest Getter: A marketing agency for bars and restaurants. â â
Step 1: Kyle posted a draft of his Facebook Ad copy + image in our forum â Kyle had already been part of the forum for a few months and gave us plenty of context about his business. By the time he posted this first draft, we knew exactly what he was selling (a bartender training course) and who he was trying to connect with. â â
Step 2: Kyle got replies from professional writers in less than 24 hrs â Once someone posts in the forum, theyâll get an answer quickly (typically the same day). One of the best things about a âgroup editâ like this is that the poster will get a lot of creative feedback. In Kyleâs case, Coach Dan suggested another angle, a different image, and some reformatting. Then, Coach Mitch came in with an idea to add scarcity to the ad. Kyle got a bunch of ideas to work with â he incorporated a few and rejected others. (This is how great team-based writing happens, whether itâs a group of marketers, writers for a tv show, or something else). â â
Step 3: Kyle re-wrote the ad based on feedback and posted it on Facebook Ads â Kyle published the ad after getting our feedback. He got a bunch of edits, suggestions, and out-of-the-box ideas â but this is still his copy and his voice. â â
Step 4: Kyle reported back the results, a 12X Return On Investment! [Kyle results 1] â Kyle reported back with live results about a month after posting his first draft. He was really happy with the ROI on the campaign. Hereâs a closer look at those numbers: â He turned $188.10 in ad spend into $2,340 in sales (in one month). Thatâs roughly a 12X ROI on his ad spend â not bad, right? Coming back to the forum with a report like this isnât necessary, but it definitely helps everyone connect the dots from start to finish. It also kicked off a whole conversation about different angles he could test to generate even better results in the future. â â
Step 5: We replied with more reactions & suggestions to further improve the ad â â Copy is rarely a one-and-done thing. The best work comes when you can have a conversation over several drafts and really develop an idea over time. When Kyle came back with his results, it gave us a ton of great points to focus on. We called out the good things, celebrated the great things, and made a few suggestions for stronger additions in future drafts. â â
Step 6: From his training inside the forum, Kyle started creating better and better Facebook ads â Kyleâs ads have gotten better and better. This one is more advanced than the one we worked on together, which is great to see â we help people write better copy, but ideally weâd like to help people become better copywriters forever...in any industry they go to. â â
Step 7: This ad did so well, he realized it could be something bigger...maybe even its own company! â Kyle started [Guest Getter]() with a very specific market in mind - the bars and restaurants around him in Victoria, BC. Since running the successful Facebook ad from the forum, Kyle had started doing this as a service for other businesses. About a year later, he decided to get really specific and focus only on bars + restaurant clients. â â
â
âStep 8: He then realized he could record some of his early consults and make it a podcast. â Kyle is super focused on the food + drink industry. He uses the podcast to interview restaurant and bar leaders running many different types of businesses within the industry. Heâs interviewed all sorts of successful restaurateurs and is continuing to build authority in the food/drink space. â â
Step 9: This successful business all was sparked from building a humble FB Ad You never know if one of your ideas will take off. But if you share the idea with a team of pro copywriters + seasoned entrepreneurs, youâre going to walk away with a great version thatâs ready to go live and be tested. â â â â Step 10: Jump in our forums right now! One piece of advice can be life changing. â
