But let me be clear, {NAME}... When youâre first starting out as a copywriter, do not stress out about âniching downâ or being âultra-selectiveâ about who you work withâ¦

I mean, itâs good to think about your future dream clients so you can point your compass in that direction.

But in the beginning, I suggest you say yes to any client in any niche and write anything for them (so long as itâs not scammy, douchey or majorly at odds with your values, of course). Because that is the fastest way to learn what you love and what you donât loveâ¦

And it gives you incredibly valuable experience!

Some of the most successful copywriters I know said YES to every opportunity that came their way in the beginningâ¦

And with each client (the good, bad and ugly), they got better and better, honed their skills faster and found their dream clients sooner. Let that sink inâ¦

By saying YES to âmehâ clients, they found their âomg omg omgâ clients sooner. This was true for me too⦠When I first started my copywriting business, I was so eager to get clients (and so desperate to pay my rent) that I accepted ANYTHING that came my way⦠One time, I even wrote copy selling supplements to gym bros⦠And I gagged a little writing words like âcrushing reps,â âget shredded,â and ârippling musclesâ ð¤¢ð

â(Imagine me saying that in my best gym bro voice). Donât get me wrong â I love to work out and go to the gym often, but that was definitely not my dream niche. But I was new, and I was going to get paid â so I took it. And Iâm glad I did. Because I gained valuable experience (and a great story to tell you today ð)⦠I got better at writing copy⦠And it got me one step closer to finding clients I LOVED in niches I resonated with (who hired me because of the experience I had under my belt).â

The truth is⦠Sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs ð¸ before you find that dream client. So itâs okay to dabble in multiple niches⦠Itâs okay to take any and every project that comes your way⦠Itâs okay to write outside of your âdream nicheâ while you figure it all out. As I like to say⦠First get paid, then get picky. Now if youâre like⦠âOK, but how, Alex? How do I get paid? How do I find my next client?!â
