I do not take these accusations lightly. Okay – in some cases, I do 😜 I obviously laughed off this comment, but it did show me that maybe the internet needs a little schooling on exactly what "clickbait" is… And what it is NOT. So indulge me for a hot sec while I set the record straight, mmkay {NAME}? Here is the "clickbait" in question 👇 Now, before we can go all hog-wild and start naming every juicy headline we see online as clickbait in disguise 🥸… Let’s look at the definition: Clickbait is an intentionally misleading headline used to trick people into clicking. In my opinion, clickbait is deceptive, wildly sensational… And leads to content that not only lacks any real value but is often totally irrelevant to why the person clicked in the first place (the good ol’ bait and switch). A catchy hook, on the other hand… Is strategically written to attract attention and entice people to click (aka marketing)... But it is NOT deceptive or misleading because the content that follows actually delivers on the hook. [The Taylor Swift video]( was ENTIRELY about her marketing strategy… And I specifically talk about how she uses cryptic messages and hides Easter eggs in her content before she releases an album. There was nothing clickbaity or misleading about it… It was just a good ass hook that made people want to click Big difference. But of course, you know that already 😉 In case you want to learn more about douchey things on the internet – like clickbait, scams, misleading claims, stolen content and other tactics to NOT do… [Check out this week’s YouTube video](=). I also included lots of examples, tips and definitions of "ethical marketing" and how you can sell stuff in a cool way 😉 Happy Friday, Alex ABOUT: Welcome to the Copy Posse, you’re now part of the raddest, baddest crew of copywriters, marketers and entrepreneurs on the Internet.
