It's about doing the same things over and over again and making slight adjustments along the way. Even I forget this important lesson. Like everyone else, I want the results to happen right away. I get frustrated that it's not happening fast enough and I get fearful about the future. As is always the case, life has been giving me what I need and not what I want. 3 Years Of Work When I took over Copyblogger, there were two big problems with the site and the business. First, the SEO on the site was struggling. Obviously, the content on Copyblogger is the best in the business, but the site had many technical issues that were hard to fix. Second, because of the slow decline in traffic, the email list was struggling to grow. I needed to find a way to generate more email signups. So what did I do? Reps and Sets I didn't overcomplicate it and I gave myself permission to learn and fail. I had never revamped a website as big as Copyblogger before and so I knew the only way to reoptimize this site was to do it one page at a time. That's what I have been doing. I've been putting in the sets and putting in the reps. I've been paying attention to detail and doing the work that leads to .1% improvements every day. Well, guess what? Bigger Than It's Ever Been In three years, I brought the website from one of it's lowest points to it's highest point. The site is now generating more email subscribers than it ever has in it's entire history. In 2019, we were collecting about 60 emails a day. On July 2, we collected 201 emails in one day! ​ No ads. No paid promotion. Just great content that serves my audience over the course of time. This is not a humble brag, rather this is a call to arms. I hope this is proof that this process works and more importantly, that it will work for you! It's simple and effective. The reason it's hard is because you have to delay gratification. But if you're willing to put in the reps and sets, you will be unstoppable.
