The average amount of information we consume on a daily basis is staggering. It is, in fact, the equivalent of reading 127 newspapers cover to cover every single day. â¦.. I know, right?! Crazy.
Needless to say, with that amount of content competing for your audienceâs attention every day, itâs important that you find ways to connect on a deeper level. Because a connected audience is a converting audience. And you want to monetize your email list, right? Good.
There are a few ways you can go about making that connection, so letâs break them down together.
Content Upgrades
If you havenât already put a content upgrade on your blog, nowâs the time to get these bad boys into action. A content upgrade is a piece of content you create that ties back and serves as an upgrade to your original post. For instance, if you have a budgeting blog and you write a post about when and where to shop in the grocery store for the best deals, your content upgrade might be a printable shopping list for the everyday staples you recommend most often and when to stock up on them.
Maybe youâre a podcaster and your content upgrade is a worksheet that goes along with the most recent episode.
Got it?
Content upgrades are a great way to build your list full of very warm leads. Theyâre the members of your community who have read your content in its entirety and want more from you. Nowâs the time to capitalize on that interest and get them onto your email listo you can keep moving them further down the line towardâ¦.
Sequences
Email sequences are hands down the best way to find your top customers. Theyâre also the perfect connection between your content upgrades and your product. Hereâs how it works:
A blog reader likes your post and wants more so they get your content upgrade. You send it to them (and if youâre using a robust email marketing tool like ConvertKit) they get funneled into a follow up sequence of emails thatâs sent to them over the next 10 or so days since thatâs when you can capture the height of their attention.
Over the course of the sequence, you educate them further on that topic at hand and then wrap up the sequence with a soft pitch of your related product. By the time theyâve gotten through 5+ emails on the subject, they know and trust you as the expert, they see the value in investing in this topic further, and they click through to learn more and purchase your product.
See, email sequences help your subscribers know if theyâre ready for your product and they help you communicate your message to your new subscribers at the exact right time in the proper order. This, my friend, is email selling magic.
Webinars
Now you may have read through the options above and wondered, âBut what about webinars? Iâve heard that webinars work really well to sell my products.â
The rumors are true. Webinars DO work well to sell your products. The key to remember here, however, is that we arenât focused on selling so much as inviting. When you have the right people in your audience interested in your product, selling can go out the window and an invite can do all the work. Besides, selling puts you in the short-term mindset and youâre here for the long haul, right?
As a business, short-term thinking is only going to keep you in the weeds of daily tasks and frantic sales pitches just to keep your head above water. That kind of day-to-day living will never set the stage for a solid future. Thatâs why I think so many people use webinars to lure potential customers into a pitch. They need quick money. They need to show an increase in sales and they will do whatever it takes to get there. It doesnât matter to them how they come off to their audience or if they can keep them as a customer long-term as long as they make that $1 today.
Youâre already on your way to avoiding that situation just by reading and acting on these emails. The last two where we talked about your WHY and your audienceâs readiness and now this one with some steps you can take to move your blog into a revenue generating machine- youâre ready to go, right?
When you keep that human-to-human connection in mind, your content upgrades, email sequences, webinars, and products serve both you and your audience better. After all, better serving your audience ultimately means growing your revenue and thatâs just about the best service you can provide yourself as a business owner.
To your growth,
