[Consumer Reports]   Dear Friend, In our ongoing battle to eliminate junk and add-on fees that cost you real money, we just scored another big victory: The FCC is expected to vote today to require cable and satellite TV providers to display an “all-in” price for your channels – so you aren’t shocked by a slew of junk fees and other add-ons when you get your monthly bill. Tens of thousands of you signed our petition for transparent cable pricing, and your actions made a BIG difference! Now, there’s a chance for this same all-in pricing when you shop for a concert, sporting, or event ticket – so you can really compare prices, and not get a huge shock at the checkout screen. The TICKET Act would end hidden fees and give you the full price upfront for event tickets. This pro-consumer bill could come up for a vote soon, and we need everyone to speak out now who is fed up with huge ‘service’ fees and other junk fees added to the ticket-buying process. This bait-and-switch practice hides the real price for a seat, making it impossible to shop for the best deal. Some ticket sellers have said they’d be willing to implement all-in pricing, but only if their competitors are also required to do it to create a level playing field. And while a handful of states have passed all-in pricing laws, it’s still a game of chance without a national law that makes sure you know what you will be paying for a seat. The Ticket Act has bipartisan support and real momentum right now, so we all have a shot at fair ticket pricing if everyone sends a message to their members of Congress.
