[Consumer Reports]   Friend, We know your privacy is important to you – and we want to help protect your most sensitive data. So we’re excited to offer you, Friend, an exclusive invitation to our Data Bootcamp, weekly free tools and information on how to protect yourself online and reduce your digital footprint. First up: preventing companies from tracking your browsing habits. If you’ve ever shopped online, looked up symptoms for an illness, or searched for a flight, most websites are collecting data about you – as well as what device you are using, and what actions you take on their site. Often, third-party trackers installed on those websites are also watching and sharing what you do with multiple other businesses without your knowledge or consent. Discover how to reduce online tracking by [signing up for the Data Bootcamp and starting with our first workout, “Know Your Risks.”](  [Sign up for the bootcamp](  Each week will include a warm-up, a workout, and stretch goals designed to help you better understand data privacy, and what you – and what we, together – can do to better protect your personal data. We’ll be in touch each week as the workouts go live, culminating in a Data Action Day on Jan. 29 where you can use everything you’ve learned to protect yourself and reduce your digital footprint. Upcoming events include: - Workout 2: Get Smart About “Smart Devices” - Workout 3: The Political Landscape - Workout 4: The Data Economy - Workout 5: New Year, New You This has been an exciting year for Consumer Reports’ privacy work. Our advocacy team helped to enact two milestone privacy laws in Washington and California, and strengthened several other state comprehensive bills. Our Innovation Lab launched the Permission Slip app – a free mobile app that makes it easy to take control of your personal data – and users have initiated over 1 million data rights’ requests so far. And thanks to pressure from Consumer Reports members like you, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will now regulate data brokers and prevent the sale of data taken from our credit reports for targeted ads and training artificial intelligence systems. But there’s more work to do and wins we can get in 2024. [Make sure you’re ready by going through our Data Bootcamp workout now!](  [Sign up for the bootcamp](  Thank you, and we will be back in touch soon with more ways to protect your data. And please, share this with family and friends so they can benefit, too!
