Most Christians are Trapped in the 👹 Thief's Domain Rob Saunders here... Jesus teaches that there are two cornerstones upon which we can build our lives: The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We are all born into a conflict between these two cornerstones, these two paths. We can't avoid it. And when we find ourselves striving and lusting after the world's abundance in the world's way, then we are in the domain of the thief, who is the devil. And as Jesus said, when we build our lives upon the thief's cornerstone, there is only one outcome–we'll be robbed, killed and destroyed. We'll be ruined. Some might say, "But wait, there are lots of prosperous and wealthy people living in the thief's domain." Well, there's a lot more than just money that the devil can steal from us. And a lot of what he can steal from us is far more valuable than money. Now, the cornerstone upon which we want to build our lives is the Lord's, which comes with true, overflowing abundance. When I was a young man in church, I was taught John 10:10, but with no explanation or exploration of what it really meant. At the time, that was fine with me. Jesus said I'd have abundance, and who doesn't want that? But that's only half of the picture. Like most Christians, I drew a simple, self-centered conclusion–Jesus wants me to be rich. I've seen too many Christians lose their faith when the abundance spoken of here doesn't materialize. We have to be ready to tackle this mystery if we want to have the fulness of life that God wants for us, if we want to share in His abundance. What I ultimately found out is that for us as Christians, there's a cost attached to this amazing offer. Building our lives upon His cornerstone means doing things His way, according to His laws, His rules and His principles. That's the only way to gain His abundance. More to come. But for now...
