Our Election Protection work is happening all year long. It won’t stop on November 5th. {NAME}, in less than 3 months, millions of Americans will head to the polls to vote in this year’s presidential elections – and far too many will face new efforts to suppress their votes. That’s because last year was one of the worst in terms of sheer number of restrictive voting laws passed – second only to 2021 in the last decade. [1] And these laws were passed intentionally to impact this year’s elections. The team here at Common Cause is not taking these new threats to our right to vote lightly. We’ve been recruiting and training Election Protection volunteers for our country’s highest risk polling locations for decades so voters can safely and securely cast their ballot in every election – through the primaries to Election Day. We’ve also been tracking hundreds of restrictive voting bills moving through state legislatures – fighting back while we advocate for pro-voter reforms like universal vote by mail. {NAME}, the truth is, our Election Protection work is happening all year long. It won’t stop on November 5th when the last in-person voter casts their ballot. Or when the votes are all counted. That’s because threats to our right to vote don’t begin or end in November. Extremists across the country use the time in between elections to cook up their anti-voter schemes and practice them in off-year elections. So our work to ensure every vote counts must continue year-round too. And this year-round Election Protection work is only possible thanks to the generosity of our Guardians for Democracy members. Our Guardians for Democracy members make small but meaningful monthly contributions and equip us with the resources we need to carry out long term battles – like protecting our right to vote. The funding that our Guardians for Democracy provide enable us to train thousands of volunteers who help voters navigate intimidation and suppression at the polls. Their action means we can respond on a moment’s notice when our rights are threatened – as I write you, we’re pushing back against anti-voter tactics in states across the country, like shutting down polling places, limiting vote by mail, and even purging eligible voters from the rolls. Together, we can REJECT these dirty tricks and help make our elections better for everyone. But I need your immediate action to make that possible. {NAME}, I’m writing today to ask you if you’ll join our Guardians for Democracy by making a small monthly gift of whatever you can today – whether that be $5, $10, or even $15 dollars – and ensure we have the resources we need to continue protecting one of our most fundamental rights as Americans: the right to vote. From now until August 31st, we’ll send you a free gift to show our appreciation. [Will you start your monthly gift today and ensure every voter can make their voice heard? We’ll send you a free copy of Robert Reich’s book The System: Who Rigged It, How We Fix It as a thank you!]( If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [YES, CHIP IN $5 MONTHLY!]( [Sorry, I can't become a sustaining member at this time, but I’d still like to make a one-time gift to help where it’s needed most >>]( {NAME}, your gift today will make a direct, measurable impact on hundreds of voters. Please let me know I can count on your support today.
