Our fantastic newsletter manager Emma is off to try new adventures. She's played an instrumental role in making sure that the Crypto Chronicle arrives in your inboxes every day. Best of luck with what comes next — and thanks for everything. We'll miss you! ETH sizzles after 'Shapella' 📈 Anyone who predicted mass Ether sell-offs after the long-awaited "Shapella" upgrade should eat their words. The world's second-largest cryptocurrency has surged by 10% over the past 24 hours — piercing $2,100. Prices haven't been this high since last May. But things haven't all been plain sailing for the Ethereum blockchain. "Shapella" allows validators to withdraw locked-up ETH if they want to — and there's now a two-week wait for those who want to be reunited with their crypto. Despite all of this, we haven't seen a dramatic fall in the amount of ETH that's being held in the deposit contract. That indicates that there's growing interest in staking now it's known that Ether won't need to be locked up indefinitely. BitBoy ordered to appear in court 👀 A judge has ordered BitBoy Crypto — otherwise known as Ben Armstrong — to appear in court amid allegations he has harassed a lawyer. Adam Moskowitz is representing plaintiffs in a $1 billion class action lawsuit against the influencer and several others. It's been claimed that Armstrong made 21 calls to his office in just 45 minutes — and called him an "unbelievably dumb motherf*****." Despite this escalation, the controversial YouTuber appears to be standing his ground. On Twitter, he wrote: "I will continue to relentlessly bully people that prey on the innocent and the weak. Adam Moskowitz does not get to inconvenience me. So no Adam, I will not be showing up to court Thursday." Bob Lee murder suspect arrested 🚨 A so-called tech consultant has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App. The entrepreneur was stabbed to death in San Francisco last week. Police have named the suspect as Nima Momeni, and it's believed they knew each other. However, a motive for the killing is unclear at this stage. In other developments, Elon Musk has been criticized for speculating about the fatal attack on Twitter. The billionaire had claimed that "repeat violent offenders" were involved, but District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said his remarks were both "reckless and irresponsible." Since stepping down as chief technology of Square, which is now known as Block, Lee had worked as chief product officer at the crypto firm MobileCoin. Bored Ape floor price slumps 📉 The crypto markets are looking pretty rosy right now, but the same can't be said for Bored Ape Yacht Club. The top-tier NFT collection has seen its floor price slide to a five-month low. And much of this downward pressure has been linked to a prominent trader. On Twitter, @franklinisbored said an "unfortunate" issue in real life meant he needed to sell off a substantial number of his Apes. He explained: "I got rug pulled on an investment I put almost 2,000 ETH into, thinking it was credible due to who else invested (not naming anyone for privacy reasons). Someone used our $$ as a casino gambling Ponzi and flushed it down the drain. Please learn any lessons possible from this." At the time of writing, 2,000 ETH is worth over $4 million.
