Though celebrations have been muted so far, the Apple MacBook Air M3 is the company's first new computer in this anniversary year, and [we've put the latest Mac through its paces]( I've been a PC gamer for many, many years, my first at-home gaming experience was actually on an Apple Macintosh. Yes, that large, air-raid-shelter-shaped case swaddled in beige. My favorite games were a point-and-click Star Trek adventure, the spooky Dark Castle, and a pre-Netflix [Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego](. While I remember those days fondly, it was the PC that quickly became the gaming platform of choice. Though I wouldn't necessarily switch back to the new Apple MacBook Air for gaming, it's reassuring to know that the company's M3 is managing to keep step with other architectures where it's needed -- and in this case, its productivity. I use an Intel Mac for work, but would love to be able to switch to the new model for what seems like a tighter integration of silicon, OS and apps. Maybe gaming wouldn't be so bad.
