What you need to know about the billion-dollar industry. [CNET]( Insider [October 17, 2023](#?ftag=CAD-04-10aac3a&utm_email=9ec2e0353644c03ce56099bfb161a49d1f8a5a22f0d884f0cd961b89d205d529&utm_campaign_id=8051348&utm_email_id=c0a1781cd0bc1f7ede55345af2e24b826344d6703ec659e801b259317ba2edfc&utm_newsletter_id=71558&medium=email&source=iterable) [Is FAST TV the Solution to Streaming Woes?]( For years, I've been a loyal streaming service fan. Now, I'm not so sure. [Disney Plus and Hulu]( increased subscription prices this month, while [Netflix]( cracked down on password sharing earlier this year. Like many others, I got kicked off my family’s Netflix account since I don’t live at the same address. Even when you use the lowest-priced tiers of these services, many of them are now ad-supported. Combine all this with a trend toward dropping episodes of shows weekly instead of entire seasons at once, and it’s fair to say we’ve nearly looped back around to the days of cable TV -- except now, you might be paying for multiple services. This is where FAST TV comes in. CNET’s Kourtnee Jackson writes that free, ad-supported television services are “[tucked in between the worlds of cable TV and subscription-based streaming, and... that's changed how we watch TV]( If you’ve heard of platforms like Tubi and Pluto TV, you might be familiar with the way these services work. FAST TV services are free to use on any device -- no subscription fees! -- but you’ll have ads throughout. If you’re like me, though, and are already used to ad-supported tiers, it could be a great way to save. Everything you need to know about FAST TV, including comparing all the best options, is in today’s newsletter. We also have news about the new Apple Pencil and T-Mobile’s forced plan migration, as well as a review of the new Google Pixel 8 smartphone. Here’s hoping the last season of Stranger Things comes out before Netflix raises its prices so high I can’t afford it. -- Katelyn Chedraoui, writer INSIDER ESSENTIALS display:%20block;%20max-width:%20116px;%20%20max-height:%2015px; display:%20block;%20max-width:%2069px;%20%20max-height:%2015px; [FAST TV: What It Is and Why It Should Matter to You]( [FAST TV: What It Is and Why It Should Matter to You]( [As more people are tuning in to FAST streaming options, networks are beefing up what they offer.]( [See this]( [New Entry-Level Apple Pencil Gets USB-C, Cuts Pressure Sensitivity]( [New Entry-Level Apple Pencil Gets USB-C, Cuts Pressure Sensitivity]( [See this]( [Is Your Phone's 1-Year Warranty Really Enough?]( [Is Your Phone's 1-Year Warranty Really Enough?]( [See this]( [How T-Mobile's Forced Plan Migration Will Affect Your Bill]( [How T-Mobile's Forced Plan Migration Will Affect Your Bill]( [See this]( [Google Pixel 8 Review: 'Best Take' Levels Up AI-Enhanced Photos]( [Google Pixel 8 Review: 'Best Take' Levels Up AI-Enhanced Photos]( [See this]( [The Analogue 3D Is an Upcoming 4K Nintendo 64 Console]( [The Analogue 3D Is an Upcoming 4K Nintendo 64 Console]( [See this]( [iOS 17.1 Beta 3: New Features That Might Come to Your iPhone Soon]( [iOS 17.1 Beta 3: New Features That Might Come to Your iPhone Soon]( [See this]( CNET RECOMMENDS [This Massive 75-Inch Hisense 4K Mini-LED TV Is Over $500 Off Today]( Upgrade your home theater setup and save with this big and bright TV.
