This is a little embarrassing to admit considering that I work at CNET and have owned an iPhone for as long as I can remember. The thing is, I just don’t care all that much about [hidden gestures and features](. If it’s not right in front of my face and easy to figure out, then I’m not going to bother. So no, I don’t long press on apps and pages to pull up menus or use advanced gestures to multitask. I’m not even certain that I know how to close all the billions of tabs I have open in Safari. So I hope you’ll forgive me for not being totally excited about the upcoming release of [iOS 17](. I hear you’ll be able to get some kind of fancy standby mode when you plug in your phone to charge overnight. That might be cool, but normally my phone just lies next to me in bed. I don’t have a fancy stand for it and I certainly don’t turn it to landscape mode before I go to sleep. There’s also a new journal app that I can guarantee I won’t use. I’m not much of a journaler these days. But when I do journal, I prefer a good old-fashioned Google Doc. They’re easy to use and I don’t exactly have to worry about someone sneaking into my Drive to read my secret thoughts. But don’t worry, I’ve found a feature in iOS 17 that I’m actually extremely excited about: Apple is finally toning down autocorrect in messages. It’s about ducking time!
