I’ve never been much of a runner, but I thought it would be a major personal accomplishment to achieve something I never thought I could. So I donned my broken-in running shoes and started my endurance exercises. It lasted a week. Not because I wasn’t invested, but because my feet were in agony. My foot arch pain was starting to be unbearable, but I still wanted to train, or at least walk my dog down the block without limping, so I decided it was time to invest in some new shoes. I had no idea where to start or what to look for in the right trainers, but my local running store had me covered. They had me walk across this device back and forth in my socks. Very soon this machine spit out precise measurements of the length and width of my foot, the height of my arches and how much support I need when I walk. As the store employee went to pick out some shoe options that work for my particular needs, it struck me that AI technology had just picked out my new trainers for me.
