It's Going to Cost More to Stream in 2023

It was my favorite weekend activity. I’d grab a ticket for an evening show, have dinner beforehand and then pile into the theater for a night of entertainment. Sometimes, I’d buy a second ticket and stay for a late-night showing of something else, because one movie just wasn’t enough. The movie theater was my happy place. But I have a confession to make: I haven’t been to a theater since the pandemic began and I don’t plan on returning to one anytime soon. What’s changed for me? An abundance of [streaming options]( and a huge new [television]( in my home. I already pay a [ton of money each month]( for a variety of streaming services, and I don’t usually have to wait long to get the latest movies. Plus, my excellent [TCL 6-Series TV]( gives me the best seat in the house. I don’t have to worry about getting to the theater, finding my seat or peering around the head of the person in front of me. As a bonus, I can pause the action anytime I need to go to the bathroom or grab a snack. I’m not a fan of 3D movies or Marvel (sorry, [Avatar]( and [Black Panther]( so I’ve yet to find a film interesting enough to woo me back. At this point, I’m not sure I will – especially if streaming services keep getting new releases soon after their theatrical opening. I doubt that I’m alone in my way of thinking, so what will people like me mean for the entertainment industry in 2023 and beyond?
