Will 2023 be the year that AR/VR becomes mainstream? [CNET]( Insider [December 29, 2022](#?ftag=CAD-04-10aac3a) [2023 Is Ready to Go Virtual]( Sure, virtual reality headsets have been around for a while, thanks to Meta and its [Quest 2]( and [Quest Pro]( products. But will 2023 finally be the year when a new crop of headsets propels the technology into widespread adoption? CNET’s Scott Stein [thinks it might be]( as Apple is said to be close to releasing its own [VR product]( while Sony is set to launch the [Playstation VR 2]( in February. Some people are really excited about the continued evolution of the virtual reality space, but I’m skeptical that it's going to be big anytime soon. That’s because I experience two issues that make VR headsets an absolute no-go, and I know that I’m not alone: I wear glasses and I’m highly susceptible to motion sickness. Most current headsets make it difficult or impossible to wear glasses while using them, which means they tend to be unappealing to those who struggle with their vision. But the real deal-breaker for me is that they activate my issues with motion sickness. For whatever reason, these headsets are notorious for [making people nauseated]( if they're prone to motion sickness. So sure, maybe VR headsets will be big one day, but I know I’m not going near one of these things until I can comfortably wear my glasses and be assured that I won’t need to puke the second I put it on.
