Republican’s climate denial + job-killing shutdown Team -- the Congressional deadline to fund the government and avert a global economic crisis is at the end of this week. September 30 to be exact. As House Republicans, led by the ineffective Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, steer us toward a MAGA shutdown, their extreme MAGA buddies are set to take the stage at tonight’s second GOP Presidential Debate in Simi Valley, California. Last month, these candidates shared exactly what they’d do if one of them were to win the White House: cut clean energy jobs, repeal the clean energy plan, and make sure wealthy oil and gas CEOs get exactly what they want. Deja vu! That’s precisely what Congressional Republicans are threatening to do right now -- and it will hurt the economy. So, if climate comes up in this debate -- and it should, given the extreme weather communities across the country have seen this year -- it’ll be more of the same: deny, deceive, and delay. [Republicans standing on that debate stage tonight need to know that running against climate action is a losing stance. Add your name to tell them climate denial is not a ticket to the White House.]( The climate crisis is impacting communities everywhere. Americans support the president’s clean energy plan and want to build on our climate progress -- not roll it back and slash taxes for oil and gas giants in the process. [We’re counting on this team to make something clear: If you aren’t ready to fight for our future, you’re not fit for the White House.]( We’ll be watching tonight’s denier fest -- so you don’t have to -- and we’ll keep you updated with ways to help take action and push back against their climate denial.
