Alex Reid | February 24, 2020 | Baltimore, MD Hi y’all! Alex Reid here with your Monday roundup. Sugar is addictive. Science proves it. Harvard Medical School publishes: The effects of added sugar intake — higher blood pressure, inflammation, weight gain, diabetes, and fatty liver disease — are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke. And, suddenly that sweet brownie or piece of candy looks less attractive… So why do so many people struggle with kicking sugary foods to the curb? Sleep could partially be to blame. Columbia University's Irving Medical Center studied about 500 women — monitoring their sleeping and dietary patterns. After conducting this study for a year, they’ve come to interesting conclusions. Advertisement Can you really “cheat” your way to a good night’s sleep? sleep problems? New research suggests one special compound may be able to trick your body into falling asleep in as little as ONE MINUTE. [Click here to see how to do it.]( “The poorer their quality of sleep and the less they slept, the more the women consumed added sugars, saturated fats, and caffeine.” The less women slept, the more likely they were to eat unhealthy. Is this something you struggle with? [You can dive into the specifics right here.]( Diet plays such a huge role in your health and quality of life. I, personally, take my diet very seriously. I’m always talking with scientists, PhDs, and our very own Dr. Anil Bajnath about how to live a healthier life. Health is wealth. And when my days on this Earth are over, I want to know I lived a long, prosperous, healthy life. I want to be healthy enough to run around with my grandkids and go hiking in my later years. And that’s my deepest desire for you! Your dreams might be different. Maybe you want to sail the world in your retired years. One thing you can do to prepare for the future is to take care of yourself NOW. This morning, I came across an article calling the Mediterranean diet one of “the healthiest in the world.” The diet consists of: - Plant-based cooking - Fruits and vegetables - Whole grains - Beans and seeds - EVOO - Limited refined sugar and flour - Fish - Eggs (small portion) - Dairy (small portion) - Meat (on rare occasion) In no way am I advocating the diet but I always encourage you to educate yourself! I find it interesting what the BMJ journal Gut recently published… After just one year on the Mediterranean diet, elderly people’s microbiome changed — improving brain function. And experts say the Mediterranean lifestyle is to thank. "Our findings support the feasibility of changing the habitual diet to modulate the gut microbiota which in turn has the potential to promote healthier aging," the study authors proceed. I don’t want to give too much away… but it’s downright intriguing. [Read it for yourself. I’ll let you be the judge.]( Things are changing, folks. And they’re changing fast. Doctors are afraid. One of the most common, traditional forms of cancer treatment is chemotherapy. Now, I’m not here to dive into my opinions on the best route to treat cancer. But I want to discuss bugs. (Yes, you read that right.) Doctors believe chemotherapy could soon be an “unviable” treatment method because of antibiotic-resistant superbugs. [It’s a wild story.]( That’s why m saved it for last. These are the ages we now live in, folks. I’ll be in touch with you tomorrow… To your health, Alex Reid President, Clear Health Now Enjoy reading this article?
