Hey there Clash Nation... As I write this, everyone is getting ready to take their sets for Biden's SOTU. We all know what to expect -- some combination of gaslighting, preening, and denunciation of anyone to the right of Bernie Sanders. All in the name of unity, of course. Rather than send out another drinking game and risk blowing up the livers of our readers if you take a drink every time Biden says something clownish or dishonest, we're going to give you something to cleanse the palate. That will surely toss a cat amongst the pidgeons. And how about a reminder of what inflation ACTUALLY looked like? Biden is already saying that inflation was insane under Trump. It was not. Between Nov 2018 and Jan 2021, monthly inflation numbers remained between 0.12 (during the worst of lockdowns) and 2.49 when the Trump recovery was hitting its stride in Janury *just* before Covid came to town. When he handed the baton to Biden, inflation had been 1.36 (Dec) and 1.40 (Jan). Under Biden, it took off. By March, it was already above Trump's high-water mark, and climbing. By the fall of Kabul, it had crossed 5% and was heading for 6%. And in the month BEFORE the so-called Putin Price Hike, inflation had ballooned more than a Chinese Spy platform up to 7.48% As Biden pushes a vision of big state control and minimized personal freedoms, I leave you all with an 1849 quote from former Speaker of the House, Robert Winthrop, with my favorite part highlighted. All societies of men must be governed in some way or other. The less they may have of stringent State Government, the more they must have of individual self-government. The less they rely on public law or physical force, the more they must rely on private moral restraint. Men, in a word, must necessarily be controlled, either by a power within them, or by a power without them; either by the Word of God, or by the strong arm of man; either by the Bible, or by the bayonet. It may do for other countries and other governments to talk about the State supporting religion. Here, under our own free institutions, it is Religion which must support the State.
