On Monday, during an interview, CNN's Jim Acosta seemed to hit a new low. His target? Former President Donald Trump. The issue? Trump's decision to honor the 13 U.S. service members who tragically lost their lives during the botched military withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Biden's administration. Now, picture this. Acosta was speaking with Rep. Jason Crow, a Democrat from Colorado and a former Army Ranger. Instead of focusing on the solemn act of honoring these fallen heroes, Acosta suggested that Trump was using this memorial for political gain. He even dragged out some old, controversial claims about Trump allegedly calling deceased veterans "suckers" and "losers." This was clearly a jab, trying to paint Trump's actions as nothing more than a political stunt. CNN's Jim Acosta suggests Trump is "politicizing" the deaths of the thirteen service members by visiting Arlington National Cemetery. Biden is currently on vacation. [pic.twitter.com/DV2QNg4ubv]( - Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) [August 26, 2024]( [Acosta asked Crow](, "Is he politicizing these soldiers' deaths? Should he even be at Arlington National Cemetery if he's going to make some politics out of this?" But Crow's response wasn't exactly what you'd call a strong defense of Biden's actions. He spoke of mourning all service members lost in the 20-year conflict and credited Biden with making the "tough decision" to end America's longest war. It was a classic example of deflecting the question to avoid directly addressing the harsh reality of the chaotic withdrawal. Here's the thing, folks. During Trump's visit to Arlington, he made no political statements. He walked alongside the grieving families, paying his respects in a moment that was clearly personal, not political. But later, Trump did not hold back on Truth Social, where he criticized the Biden administration's handling of the withdrawal, calling it "the most embarrassing moment in the history of our Country." Cheryl Rex, mother of Lance Cpl. Dylan Merola: "When [Biden] approached me, his words to me were, 'My wife, Jill & I, know how you feel. We lost our son as well and brought him home in a flag draped coffin.'" "My heart started beating faster & I started shaking, knowing that... [pic.twitter.com/lLMRokjEdY]( - Breaking911 (@Breaking911) [August 7, 2023]( Let's not forget the facts. The Afghanistan withdrawal is widely seen as a significant foreign policy failure. Even some Democrats have criticized the administration for its poor planning and lack of coordination. A House investigation revealed several key failures, such as giving up control of the Bagram Air Base and relying on the Taliban for security at Kabul's airport-decisions that led to utter chaos. The images of Afghans desperately clinging to planes as they took off from Kabul were gut-wrenching. These scenes are now etched into the memory of the public as a symbol of the disaster that unfolded. And despite President Biden's assurances that the operation would be smooth and orderly, the reality was anything but. The tragic loss of 13 American service members is a somber reminder of this failure. Adding to the heartbreak, Cheryl Rex, the mother of one of the fallen Marines, recounted a shocking interaction with President Biden, where he seemed to compare her son's death to that of his own son, who died of cancer. Her reaction was one of disbelief, as she felt Biden was making the moment about himself.
