COLLEGE IN TROUBLE [Pittsburgh Technical College Faces Education Dept. Ultimatum Over Financial Problems]( The college, whose [president is fighting]( with its faculty, staff, and students, and whose board and cabinet have seen an exodus of members, failed a recent audit of its finances. The department said PTC had to meet new financial requirements or risk losing access to federal student aid. The requirements could involve personal guarantees by each board member and by the president. (WPXI, The Chronicle) CAMPUS SAFETY [Woman Slain on U. of Georgia Campus Is Identified as Nursing Student at Augusta U.]( Laken Hope Riley, a 22-year-old junior at Augustaâs satellite campus in Athens, Ga., had gone for a run at intramural fields. Her body was found on Thursday in a nearby wooded area. An autopsy is underway, and the police said they had no suspects. Both campuses canceled classes on Friday. Forbids Student Newspaper to Cover Discussion of Pride Flagâs Removal]( The discussion â of student concerns about the Texas universityâs decision to remove the flag from a campus coffee shop â took place at a meeting on Wednesday of the Student Government Associationâs Senate. The newspaper, Hilltop Views, said that the universityâs president and a vice president had barred its reporter from covering the discussion.
