(NBC News, The Chronicle) CAMPUS SAFETY [Arab Muslim Student at Stanford Is Injured in Possibly Intentional Hit-and-Run]( According to the university, the driver cursed the student, âmade eye contact â¦, accelerated, and struck the victim.â The student suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the Friday incident, which is being investigated as a hate crime. [He later said]( that his assailant had previously expressed hostility toward Muslims. He also called for love, understanding, and inclusivity. (The Stanford Daily, CNN) CAMPUS SAFETY [UMass-Amherst Student Is Arrested for Allegedly Punching Jewish Student]( The unnamed aggressor on the flagship campus interrupted a vigil on Friday for the hundreds of Israeli hostages taken during Hamasâs October 7 attack. The student, who also reportedly spit on an Israeli flag, was banned from campus. (Massachusetts Daily Collegian) ENROLLMENT [Common Application Plans to Send 200,000 Admission Offers Based on Reported Grades]( In an email to be sent on Tuesday, the Common App will convey offers of admission by 70 colleges and universities based on the states where the students live and the grade-point averages they report. The offers â part of a [broader trend]( in which [some colleges]( are [embracing direct admissions]( â are targeting first-generation and low-income students.
