[Similar fake calls]( known as swatting incidents, hit several colleges in Texas. The episodes, which occur as colleges [face real violence]( follow a [series]( of [spurious]( [bomb]( [threats]( in 2021 and 2022. (The Washington Post, KIII, The Chronicle) STUDENT LOANS [Supreme Court Won’t Block Settlement of Student-Loan Lawsuit]( The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday refused to halt a settlement that forgives $6 billion in federal loans for students who say they were defrauded by a total of 151 for-profit colleges and vocational programs. The Education Department is allowed to cancel such loans based on misconduct by colleges. Some of the 151 colleges had sought to block the settlement. The case is not related to the White House’s plan to forgive $400 billion in student loans owed by 40 million Americans; the Supreme Court is [currently considering]( a lawsuit over that effort.
