He suffered “massive brain damage,” his lawyer said, from alcohol poisoning in an October event at the Phi Gamma Delta house at the University of Missouri at Columbia. (Columbia Daily Tribune) PRIVACY [UCLA Law Accidentally Emails Confidential Interview Data to Students]( The data included students’ names and grades, the law firms with which they had interviewed, and whether they had been offered jobs, including average offer amounts. The university said it was taking steps to avoid a similar incident in the future. (Law.com) ATHLETICS [3 Universities to Leave American Athletic Conference for Big 12 a Year Early]( The Universities of Central Florida, Cincinnati, and Houston reached agreements with their current conference that will enable them to start play in the Big 12 in 2023. Their exit fees were not disclosed. (Houston Chronicle) STUDENT LIFE [Georgia Southern U. to Test New Device for Collecting Unpaid Parking Tickets]( The device, called the Barnacle, covers the windshield and clings to it with 1,000 pounds of pressure. Attempts to remove the device will damage the windshield and set off an alarm. The university hopes offenders will find it easier to pay their tickets than drive without seeing.
