LEADERSHIP [U. of Florida Terminates Several GOP Allies of Ben Sasse Following His Resignation]( At least six people hired to lucrative jobs at the university by the former Republican U.S. senator from Nebraska have been let go since [Sasse announced]( in July he was [stepping down]( amid his wifeâs worsening health. The people who received notices of non-reappointment included former staffers in Sasseâs Senate office who worked for UF remotely. (The Gainesville Sun, The Chronicle) CAMPUS SAFETY [Former U. of Chicago Student Is Charged With Concealing Bomb-Making in Dorm Room]( Aram Brunson, 21, was charged with lying to the authorities about a 2023 explosion in his dorm that he blamed on fireworks he was making. The U.S. attorneyâs office says he was making a bomb and planned to engage in pro-Armenian terrorism against Azerbaijanis. Brunson is now thought to be in Armenia. The university said it had cooperated in the investigation.
