(Minnesota Public Radio) ACCOUNTABILITY [U.S. Agrees to $138.7-Million Settlement Over FBIâs Botching of Nassar Allegations]( The U.S. Justice Department on Tuesday said it had settled with more than 100 people who accused the FBI of grossly mishandling allegations of sexual assault against Larry Nassar, a [sports doctor at Michigan State University]( and for Olympic gymnasts. The FBIâs failure allowed Nassar to continue to prey on victims. He is now serving a life term in prison. (Associated Press, The Chronicle) CAMPUS CUTS [U. of St. Thomas, in Minnesota, Cuts Budget but Says Programs Wonât Be Eliminated]( The Roman Catholic university cited the âheadwinds affecting all of higher educationâ in saying it would lay off 26 employees and leave 30 positions unfilled to help close a $10.5-million budget gap. âNo academic programs or faculty positions were eliminated,â it said.
