Guillaume Cerutti Christie’s Chief Executive Officer A landmark November at Christie’s I am pleased to share with you that last week in New York [The Ann & Gordon Getty Collection]( sales achieved a total in excess of US$150 million, with proceeds benefiting the Ann and Gordon Getty Foundation for the Arts. A few days earlier, our [20th/21st Century Art sales in London]( and in [Paris]( also performed above our expectations, demonstrating that despite a challenging economic and political environment, the art market continues to show resilience, especially when it comes to great works of art and luxury and to collections with great provenance. This success paves the way to what promises to be a sensational month of November at Christie’s on three continents. New York On 9 and 10 November, Christie’s will offer [Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection]( on behalf of the estate of the late Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen. Valued in excess of US$1 billion, all sale proceeds will be dedicated to philanthropy. This is an event of unprecedented magnitude — a fitting tribute to the inspirational figure of Paul Allen, his ground-breaking vision for art and innovation, and his philanthropic legacy. The following week, our [20th/21st Century Art series]( will be headlined by [Willem de Kooning’s Untitled III]( to be offered on 17 November and set to be among the artist’s top three works to sell at auction. Geneva From 6 to 8 November, our [Luxury sales]( will open with [Legendary and Unique Watches]( unquestionably the most important grouping of timepieces featuring more than 100 one-off pieces and prototypes, including rare treasures by Richard Mille, François-Paul Journe and Audemars Piguet. This season will also feature [The Fortune Pink]( the largest (18.18 carats) pear-shaped fancy vivid pink diamond to be offered at auction on 8 November. Alongside this is a superb collection of wines direct from the cellar of [Domaine Ponsot]( in celebration of their 150th anniversary. Hong Kong Our [Autumn Auctions]( will take place from 25 November to 3 December. With the relaxation of travel restrictions in Asia, we anticipate great numbers to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to participate in our sales in person. We have also added an element of surprise by presenting [Shen the T. rex]( the first T. rex skeleton ever to be offered at auction in Asia, on 30 November. This world-class specimen will be presented alongside masterpieces by celebrated 20th- and 21st-century Asian and international artists, including Joan Mitchell, Sanyu, Zao Wou-Ki, Yoshitomo Nara, Adrian Ghenie, Nicolas Party, George Condo and Zeng Fanzhi. While we will give you more details later about our December sales, I am delighted to announce now that on 7 December in New York we will have the honor to offer [Sculpting Paradise: The Collection of Marie Lalanne](. Almost 200 works from the collection of the daughter of Claude and François-Xavier Lalanne will come to auction, making this the largest sale dedicated to works by the artists ever held in the United States. We feel privileged to have been entrusted by our clients to present these masterpieces and important collections for sale. We look forward to welcoming you to our salerooms and galleries across the globe, or digitally on [christies.com]( during this extraordinary auction season. Yours sincerely, Guillaume Cerutti
