For many, April means baseball (go Phillies!), spring cleaning, and allergy season (oof). For me, it also means the start of hearings to authorize national defense programs, a week at home meeting with constituents across the district, and reintroducing a few bills that didnât cross the finish line last year. This is the bread and butter of my work for you in Congress, and Iâm excited to update you on legislation, committees, and how this team is building a better future for you and your family.](
[Modernizing Math and STEM education - Hereâs a little-known fact about me: I taught high school chemistry. When I got to Congress and learned there wasnât already a Congressional caucus focused on women in STEM, my team started one. Earlier this year, I re-introduced a bill to modernize math and STEM education at the federal level, along with Indiana Rep. Jim Baird â and this past month, it passed the Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Fortifying our educational model will build a strong generation of innovators in the future â setting a whole generation of learners, and our economy, up to thrive. The bill goes next to the whole House for a vote.](
[My 72nd Town Hall - Fast and reliable broadband and internet are necessary components of modern life, and I am committed to making sure no one in our community is left behind. I hosted this town hall with federal and local experts to share resources available to our community to close the gap in broadband equity. Letâs make sure ALL community members have the same access to jobs, education, and more. The future of our economy depends on it.](
[Helping Women Whoâve Served - Although the ban on women serving in combat ended in 2015, women served in different roles in combat zones for decades before that. These women often suffered similar injuries as their male counterparts but often faced barriers in receiving treatment when they returned home. I recently helped introduce the bipartisan Jax Act, named after Jaclyn âJaxâ Scott who served in Afghanistan on a cultural support team, which would require the Pentagon to update the personnel records of over 300 women who served in this way to reflect their combat roles, making it easier for them to get the specialized care theyâve earned.](
[Can you believe that weâre already a quarter of the way through the year? Iâm so excited for all the seeds weâre planting now â and how theyâll come to fruition in the coming weeks and months. As you and your family move toward longer, sunnier days, I wish all the best for you and promise that my fight for working families like yours continues. Thereâs work to be done. â Chrissy](
[Chrissy is proud to be your voice in Congress and is committed to fighting for the values that matter in our community. But a divided Congress means there will be challenges ahead. We must all work together to have any chance of creating a better future that works for anyone. So weâre counting on the support of people like you to keep Chrissyâs momentum going throughout the year. Can we count on you to join us and donate whatever you can spare right now? Thank you for your support and for believing in our vision for a better future.]( Chrissy Houlahan for Congress
