Musings, ramblings, and candid commentary from an always-hungry New Yorker. Hi Chowhounds! Joey Skla

[...are a few of my favorite things.](#) [Take Five]( Musings, ramblings, and candid commentary from an always-hungry New Yorker. [Joey Skladany]( [Managing Editor]( Hi Chowhounds! Joey Skladany here, managing editor of the site and apparent fan of random, albeit certifiably amazing foods and wines. Pleased to e-meet you. I am *super* excited to bring you some of my favorite articles from the week. Think of this as a helpful and (sometimes) humorous guide to Chowhound content that is a) informative, b) trendy, and c) an excellent commuter read. Whether you're an amateur chef, self-proclaimed foodie, or someone who just really likes to eat and drink (I mean, who doesn't?), there's bound to be something in here that whets your appetite. So kick back, relax, and allow me to do all of the steering. You won't regret it. And if you do, feel free to reach me on Instagram or Twitter [@joeyskladany]( and let me know what you'd like to see! I'm accommodating to a fault, said no ex-boyfriend ever. 1. [How Did Fudge Become a Staple of Tourist Towns?]( I have a not-so-secret desire to be on a future episode of My 600-lb Life and become everyone else's problem. The food that will probably get me there? [Fudge](. The stuff is fattening, full of sugar, and simply irresistible. It's also easily accessible, with fudge stores popping up all over every adorable American town. This piece delves into the indulgence's sinful history, as well as a look at some of the most talked-about places in the country. My bucket list has never been longer. 2. [Here's the History Behind the Trendy Poke Bowl]( Calling all basic b*#?!es! Your favorite culinary trend (next to the pumpkin spice latte, of course) actually has a humble past. The next time you place that complex order, piled high with random ingredients like dandelion greens and the aroma of a roasted acorn, think about where that dish came from. We won't spoil it, but no, the answer is not [Pokeworks]( in NYC (though that chain is definitely delish and worth a trip.) 3. [What Are CBD Foods and Why Are They Everywhere?]( My relationship with [marijuana]( is complicated. While I'm a firm believer in its touted health benefits, I just don't find the smell or "high" sensation to be appealing. And this is even after spending a weekend in Amsterdam's Red Light District (R.I.P. to my dignity). That being said, CBD foods are all the rage...like a Tamagotchi of the food world-level rage. The great thing about CBD is that it doesn't get you stoned. Instead, it touts pain relief and anxiety reduction as major perks. Read on for more info, you big pothead. 4. [These Frozen Yogurt Toppings Give the Most Bang for Your Buck]( Honesty is the best policy and I am willing to admit that I've racked up a $12 [froyo]( in a past life. And by past life, I really mean two days ago. There is absolutely zero self-restraint when it comes to sauces and toppings, but if you're looking to indulge, this feature has an awesome mathematical breakdown of how toppings will either save a buck or weigh you down. "Thank you,"- your wallet. 5. [Blueberry Muffin in a Can?: The Sweet Success of Pastry Beers]( Eating > drinking any day, but I love a good liquid that combines the best of both worlds (except soup. I am weirdly not a huge fan of soup and have created enemies over this. Fight me.) Sweet beers are nothing novel, but those containing our favorite [breakfast foods]( are borderline life-changing. Take a tour of what's currently on the market with this boozy look at innovative brewing. [What I'm Cooking This Weekend: Kimchi Chicken Burgers]( If you are what you eat, then I'm hot and spicy. But also a chicken. You can't have it all. [What I'm Sipping This Weekend: A Mojito Margarita]( When two become one, you don't just get an amazing Spice Girls song. Let's Stay Connected!
