Support Chicago's arts & culture scene! 📣 Hey Reader, When I was a nerdy kid, I used to waste hours reading art reviews. I loved the oddly detailed worlds that those writers created with their critiques of cultural events. It’s pretty corny stuff, but the Reader still has that same effect on Chicagoans—and me—today. After reading it, I feel I’m both more cultured and more part of the culture. The Reader is a place to preserve the raw and unfiltered voices of our generation's artists. We are not afraid to host your controversial takes, joys and triumphs toward the city. We are on day three of raising money to showcase Chicago's cosmopolitan character and voice. So far, our community support has been promising! [You still have until September 25 to become a member of the Reader and receive your choice of one of six, limited-edition, signed prints from legendary Chicago artist Tony Fitzpatrick.]( [GET YOUR PRINT]( Many of the artists we cover are Black, Brown, queer, and part of communities that are overlooked by the mainstream press. The Reader is here to tell these stories, document these histories, and introduce emerging artists and cultural innovators. [But to continue to bring you those stories, and to provide a platform for those artists, we need your support.]( We've partnered up with the legendary Chicago artist Tony Fitzpatrick to create a collection of exclusive, signed prints inspired by six iconic Chicago locations. [When you become a member this week, you'll receive a personally signed piece of art.]( journey as an artist began with the Reader, and now, as an internationally acclaimed artist, we're honored to collaborate with him. Every week, our writers are on the ground, engaging with theater, the arts, and music communities. This allows us to stay connected and informed, and to curate a biweekly paper showcasing fresh voices, artists, and events. As a nonprofit, a faithful community of members is what enables us to do this work. [A monthly membership for as little as $5 will bring you coverage that no other publication in the city provides.]( Cheers to supporting the language of arts and culture.
