Heffer BBQ returns to Monday Night Foodball June 23, 2023 Brisket is the great shapechanger in Heffe

Heffer BBQ returns to Monday Night Foodball [READER]( [Food & Drink]( June 23, 2023 Brisket is the great shapechanger in Heffer BBQ’s vast repertoire. The central Texas-Mexican barbecue duo have deployed their dreamy smoked beef breast in tacos, crunchwraps, Italian meatballs, bo ssam, [brisquites]( and classic Hill Country-style barbecue platters. But nothing lures hapless smoke-starved beef fiends to the [Plant]( like their half-pound smoked brisket burgers, topped with pickled red onions and garlic dill pickles, smothered with American cheese on a tallow-toasted sweet potato bun. That’s the story at their regular residency at Back of the Yards’s [Whiner Beer]( and a host of other pop-up spots over the years. Wildly, in three separate appearances they’ve never brought the burger to [Monday Night Foodball](. That all changes this June 26, when Shawn Smith and Leonor Quezada return to the Reader’s weekly chef pop-up at Ludlow Liquors. Foodball fans have thrilled to their [chicken tinga tostada]( oak-smoked wings, [baby back rib]( and the brisket [bo ssam collab]( with Kimski’s Won Kim. I’m still haunted by Quezada’s smoked Italian-style meatballs from last November. Those are making a return too, in patty form, topped with marinara and mozzarella on a bun, both functionally inedible without a side of smoked beef-tallow fries. They’re keeping it simple this time, because sometimes all you need is a very good burger—as long as you finish off with Quezada’s Mexicanized tiramisu with citrusy Licor 43 and Piñon espresso. It’s walk-in orders only beginning at 5 PM at 2959 N. California this Monday, June 26. After, we’re taking a 3rd of July break next Monday, but the fireworks really pop off on the 5th when we announce a brand-new late summer Foodball schedule.
