I want to tell you about my decision

I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on our journey since we launched this campaign over 18 months ago. I get asked why I decided to run for Senate a lot on the campaign trail, so I wanted to share a little bit about my decision today. As a judge and Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court, I saw up close how justice was too often out of reach for people. I saw the ways laws handed down by Washington leave our families behind — all while corporate interests rake in record profits. Politicians in Washington have allowed the wealthy and well-connected to get ahead for far too long. DC insiders like my opponent have forgotten who they were elected to serve, and I knew this race was a real opportunity for North Carolinians to have a change. We need a leader in the Senate who will be a voice for all of us and break through the division and gridlock to deliver real change for our families. But this race is the toughest campaign I’ve ever run. I’ve never faced more lies and vicious attacks, and my opponent is being propped up by over $63 million in outside spending.
