I worried about how much this race would cost because I knew Republicans would pump tens of millions of dollars into our state, as they are doing right now. I also knew that we needed to run a campaign the right way. That meant rejecting corporate PAC money because DC special interests should not be allowed to buy Senate seats. It was clear that we’d need a whole lot of folks like you joining us to fight back. So I put my faith in you, and we kicked off a campaign with a new playbook unlike anyone has tried in North Carolina before. And right after our announcement, the response was immediate and overwhelming. Sonya, a teacher from Charlotte, chipped in $5. Then Catherine from Boone, a health care worker, made a $20 recurring contribution, and moments later, Anna, a social worker from Durham, gave $50...and we were off.
