I hope you're preparing for them NOW!     Happy Thursday! Here's what I'm seeing regarding email marketing and copywriting this week. This edition is full of tips and resources. So without further ado, let's dive in:     Email Campaign Idea - The SMS Email: - Email Examples: - [The SMS Email Example 1]( - [The SMS Email Example 2](  - Purpose/Context of Email: As 2024 approaches, your SMS list is going to become very valuable to you. SMS is this new thing that customers haven't become wise to yet, so it really resonates with them. SMS now is like Facebook in 2018. Use email to funnel people into SMS and see what happens, wink wink. [Example 1]( is from Health-Ade, a fast-growing DTC brand. They're highly connected to pop culture, so the Ariana Grande reference is very poignant, I like it. They also very briefly touch on the benefits of being on the SMS list, like early access, and make it punchy and pithy. Love it. [Example 2]( is from Homesick. The way they designed this email is totally something you should steal. For some reason, emails that look like a text convo perform really well. It's an attention grabber, and usually means a higher CTR. Offering 25% off is a MASSIVE deal, too. I don't think you need to be this aggressive with a discount strategy, but it'll definitely work to convert these people into the SMS list. Feel free to work out a test to see if people respond better to a discount, or if they respond better to the massive FOMO they'll receive by missing important drops and deals in the future. - Segment(s): - Your Engaged Subscriber Segment  - Subject Line Idea: - Wanna text us? - Hey, did you get our text? - Our Text Club needs you!  - Preview Text Idea: - Give us your number! - We're trying to reach you. - It's so fun in here.     Sponsor of the Week:  There are some HUGE email changes coming in early 2024. Get ready, as landing in the inbox is about to get harder. In case you haven’t heard about the [new Google and Yahoo updates]( here's everything you need to know about the changes coming and how they’ll affect your campaigns: Google and Yahoo have announced new sender requirements for bulk email senders, coming into force on February 1, 2024. Their definition of bulk senders is those who send 5,000+ messages to Gmail addresses (same for Yahoo) in 1 day. Both have set 3 main requirements to ensure your emails get delivered: email authentication, easy one-click unsubscription, and a low spam rate. Whether it’s your holiday campaign offering discounts to your audience or yet another creative newsletter, you need to meet these new requirements to deliver them to the inbox.   Email Authentication is the most challenging out of the three changes, given its technical complexity, and I strongly recommend getting started as soon as possible to prevent your campaigns from ending up in spam. I’ve recently discovered [EasyDMARC]( an email authentication and deliverability platform that simplifies the authentication journey, providing smart tools and guidance throughout the whole process. They have also created [a comprehensive guide]( for marketers to help meet the new standards on time. Check it out and make sure you and your team are ready ahead of the due date.       Podcast Episode: In this episode, Chase Dimond and Cardinal Mason discuss:  - Christmas Gift Ideas for Fellow Entrepreneur Friends - How to Market in the Most Wonderful (And Dead) Time of the Year  [Check out this episode here.](     Email Marketing Visual of the Week:  The secret sauce of email marketing?  It's not just content or frequency; it's context.  Tailoring your message to fit the moment makes all the difference.       Email Marketing Tip of the Week: Here are 5 types of segments (with examples) you should be leveraging for your email marketing channel:  - Demographic Segmentation: Segment your list based on age, gender, location, etc., for tailored messaging. Example: For fashion stores, send different campaigns featuring men's and women's apparel to respective genders. - Behavioral Segmentation: Use past interactions, purchase history, and website behavior to create relevant content. Example: If a customer frequently purchases books from your online store, send them emails highlighting new arrivals in their preferred genres. - Engagement Level: Differentiate between active, inactive, and new subscribers to send appropriate messages. Example: For subscribers who consistently open and click through your emails, create an 'Exclusive Insider' campaign offering early access to new products or special events. This rewards and further engages your most active subscribers. - Personal Interests: Segment based on expressed interests or survey responses for highly personalized content. Example: If a segment of your audience filled out a survey indicating interest in outdoor activities, send them emails about your camping gear and outdoor adventure tips. - Purchase Cycle Stage: Tailor your communication according to where a subscriber is in the buyer’s journey. Example: For subscribers who recently made a purchase, send a follow-up email with product care tips and related products.     ChatGPT-4 Marketing Prompt: Propose [number] customer feedback collection techniques that can help our agency's client improve their product or service.  Context:  Client industry — [client industry here] Target audience — [client's target audience here] Current customer feedback collection efforts — [describe current customer feedback collection efforts here]  Inspiration:  "[customer feedback collection technique one]" "[customer feedback collection technique two]" "[customer feedback collection technique three]"  Collection guidelines:  "[your collection guidelines here]"     Hire Freelance Copywriters: If you own a business and you’re looking to hire a copywriter: My team at Copy MBA will connect you with one of our dozen-plus, highly trained, and vetted copywriters for FREE to help you grow your business. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
