Welcome to Edition 92 of Alex In My Inbox. Alex In My Inbox is a weekly copywriting series where I share interesting, actionable, and hilarious copywriting tips from "Alex." Alex is an anonymous copywriter who shares these tips with me so I can share them with you. Today, Alex has an email breaking down one of his favorite emails of the year. It might be an email you’ve already read, too. Wink, wink. But first, I wanted to share more about the platform I [hire freelance marketers from.]( Yesterday, I talked about the benefits of hiring freelancers vs. full-time, in-house employees. And a few thousand of you checked out the platform I recommended to hire freelance marketers from, [MarketerHire.]( Because it was so well received, I just wanted to share it again so everyone had the link. I used to be a marketing freelancer for hire on their platform and have been using it over the past few years to hire amazing marketers for my businesses. If you want to work with an amazing marketer, I highly recommend [chatting with them.]( I especially love how quickly they began sending me marketers to interview and that they shoulder much of the administrative burden of working with others. And the pre-vetted talent they have are world-class marketers. They have some of the top marketers from small and large companies alike. It's truly impressive! sponsored  Let’s see what Alex wrote for us today:     Dear Chase, You’ve outdone yourself. Truly. The email you sent last weekend regarding the sale for your course was…nothing short of magnificent. Maybe I’m biased. Maybe I just like seeing you get your hands dirty and write some copy. I don’t often read through every email I get in my inbox, but when I saw you were doing a sale, I wanted to see what was up. After I read it, I wanted to buy it again. And I already bought it 3 years ago when you launched it. For today’s email to you, I wanna break down each part of the email and tell you why it was so good. We’ll go line-by-line and everyone can see what they should be doing if they need to send a sales email to THEIR list, just like you did. My comments will be bolded italics. Let’s get into it. —----------------------------------------------------------------- Chase Dimond Sat, 11 Nov, 11:56 (3 days ago) to me: I wasn't planning on running this Flash Sale, so it's a surprise for us both. Make it sound like you organically had this thought and it wasn’t premeditated. People love spur-of-the-moment stuff like this from businesses. TL;DR — Here's 50% off my flagship Ecommerce Email Marketing Course. I like that you gave people who are already familiar with you the opportunity to buy your thing right up top. The offer’s there, and they already know what they’re getting. For the people that aren’t familiar, they get this next sales pitch. I was just talking to a friend, and he commented that inboxes are about to be flooded with endless discounts on tons of products people don't need. Going relatable. Everyone hates receiving 500 emails a day over BFCM from lists they forgot they were on. And I started internalizing that, and it got me thinking, what do people need? I'll spare you the rabbit hole I went down and share that I think people's highest ROI on their purchases is when they invest in bettering themselves. Framing the product you have as the only option for what they should be buying around BFCM, not pointless products that provide no value. Almost like a common enemy. In my mind, that comes in a couple of different shapes and sizes, with health + wellness and education being at the top of my list. I can't really help you on the health + wellness side, but I can on the education. The honesty here is great. Admitting what you don’t know is a great way to add credibility for the stuff you DO know. I believe learning new skills or improving existing skills is the best thing one can do right now to compete in our world. Email marketing has been the single best skill I've EVER invested in mastering. Email marketing LITERALLY changed my life. Sounds silly, but it's 100% true. Bold claim, but you can back it up. Obviously. Leading into the social proof part. I've been able to build a large business on the back of it, employ 100's of people, and drive 100's of millions of dollars in revenue for my clients. For me, it doesn't get better than this as it's been incredibly fulfilling. Nuts on the table. Nobody else can make a claim like this. Really queuing up the offer and making it sound more valuable than the price point. And the flagship Ecommerce Email Marketing Course I created a few years ago has been the BEST resource for learning and improving email marketing skills for nearly 2,000 people — their words, not mine. 2000 people is a huge flex. Not many people can say THAT either. Insinuating that if 2000 people love this product, you probably will too. The customer base of this course has been the loudest and proudest group of advocates for it. It literally brings me so much joy to see the love and appreciation people have had for it. When I built the course, I thought it would be a HUGE time-saver and game-changer for my own team and maybe a couple dozen others. NEVER did I imagine it would have the impact it has on so many people. To this day, with very little promotion, people are continually buying the course through referrals from others. Even more of a flex that you’re able to sell this thing without even pushing it. Word of mouth is the most powerful mechanism. People always want what others want. You’re demonstrating this in a sleek and nonchalant way. So if you're looking to get into ecommerce email marketing for the first time, or build upon the foundational knowledge required to do ecommerce email marketing well, my course is for you. Solid. Define your avatar. Let people identify themselves as your main demo and convince themselves that they need your product instead of doing it for them. I've NEVER EVER offered 50% off this course. EVER. I think the most I've ever offered on it was 35% off. Big opportunity. Makes people understand the gravity of the situation here. Here's the catch: This 50% off is only valid from now through tomorrow (Sunday) at 11:59pm PST. I will not make any exceptions. I repeat I WILL NOT MAKE ANY exceptions if you miss the deadline. Aggressive urgency. People can’t afford to not take you up on this. Especially at this time of year. This link will auto-apply 50% off my course. Don't wait! To your success, - Chase Proud of you for this one, man. The reason I love this email is because it has all of the anatomy of a solid direct-response email, but it doesn’t come off as pushy or aggressive. It sounds super casual and it’s in your voice. It’s the perfect way to pitch a sale like this. You built it up perfectly, added tons of social proof that doesn’t FEEL like social proof, and you had the perfect amount of scarcity and urgency to make people act NOW (the technique I mentioned in a recent email). I think people should really use this formula if they’re going to sell a personal brand product. I love everything you did. That’s why you’re the goat. <3 Yours truly, Alex. Sent from my Gumroad account (I bought your course 3 more times)  P.S. Bummed you missed out on the 50% off sale? Here's [45% off]( my Flagship Ecommerce Email Marketing Course. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
