Welcome to Edition 86 of Alex In My Inbox. Alex In My Inbox is a weekly copywriting series where I share interesting, actionable, and hilarious copywriting tips from "Alex." Alex is an anonymous copywriter who shares these tips with me so I can share them with you.  But first, here's why I prefer to hire freelance marketers: I currently own and operate 4+ businesses that do a combined 8+ figures per year in revenue. If I were to build them again from scratch, here's what I'd do from a hiring perspective to increase efficiency and profitability. I had been solely focused on hiring US-based, full-time employees for the longest time. For 0 reason other than I didn't know any different. And while this has been good, it's also super expensive. We then started hiring in Canada, Mexico, India, the Philippines, etc. Hiring both US and [non-US folks]( helped increase our productivity (24-hour shop) and profitability (employees in different countries ask for various wages). I've also started [hiring way more freelancers]( and contractors than I ever did prior. This has been a game-changer. The type of person that wants to be full-time, in-house employment is very different than someone who wants to work as a contractor or freelancer. Both have pros and cons, but I'm focused on more flexible, scalable roles for my businesses outside my agency. I'd rather pay people more per hour and work with them for fewer overall hours. Aka, I want to get from point A to B in the quickest time possible with the least resistance. As a result, I was having to get creative with how I sourced these types of individuals and it was tough. Since then, [MarketerHire]( has become my go-to for best-in-class freelance/contract marketing talent. They're like the uber for marketing freelancers. On-demand, vetted talent at the press of a button. They also now supply overseas marketing, design, and sales assistants too. I highly recommend [checking MarketerHire out.]( And let me know if you have any questions as I'm now a MarketerHire Ambassador.  Today, Alex has an email for us that was inspired by the vicious baby fever he’s been having recently. Let’s see what that has to do with anything:     Dear Chase,  Oh man.  My TikTok feed recently has just been nothing but babies being cute.  Smiling, laughing, crawling, eating, etc.  It’s been on my mind a lot.  Somebody’s getting pregnant this week.  However, because I’m me, I still haven’t stopped thinking about copywriting.  My brain only consists of two things lately, and they’ve merged into one idea that I wanna share with you.  A lot of copywriters don’t really understand funnels that well.  They understand how to write, maybe, and they might understand how to sell, but understanding a funnel is the next most important thing for getting better at copy.  It’s what I call the baby-step approach.  Adorable little baby steps with little baby feet.  I need to find a wife and fix this issue right now.  When you’re abiding by the baby-step approach, it makes it easier for you to convert people.  With this approach, you’re actually not selling the product.  You’re selling the next step.  This is something I learned many moons ago.  The point of an ad is not to sell the product at the end.  You’re selling the idea of the customer opting in.  The point of the email sequence is not to sell the product.  You’re selling the click to get them on the sales page.  You’re always just selling the next step of the funnel.  Why?  The further away someone is from the checkout button, the less likely they are to convert.  Obviously.  The goal of your copy is simply to get them further down the funnel.  From the ad to the opt-in.  From the opt-in to the first email.  From the first email to the next email.  From the next email to a VSL.  Then sell the scroll.  Then sell the click.  Then sell the product.  Baby steps.  Just a lil tip.  Hope you liked it.  Yours truly,  Alex.  Sent from my baby monitor     I hope you enjoyed this week's Alex In My Inbox edition. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
