Alex In My Inbox is a weekly copywriting series where I share interesting, actionable, and hilarious copywriting tips from "Alex". Alex is an anonymous copywriter who shares these tips with me so I can share them with you.  Today, Alex has an email for us about a major lesson he learned about life from a dream.
Â
This is a good one.Â
 But first...
Gamma has become my go-to platform for [creating beautiful presentations.](
Â
I've found them to be a modern alternative to PowerPoint that's powered by AI.
Â
Their AI helps you create, design, and refine all your content incredibly fast.
Â
Outside just presentations, you can also use Gamma to create beautiful documents, and they just released a new websites feature.
Â
For anyone who lacks design and coding skills (like me), this is a [tool worth trying.](
Â
They have a generous free plan you can [check out here.]( Â
sponsored Now let's dive into today's edition ð Â
 â Dear Chase,
Â
I had a dream last night.Â
Â
I was back in high school, and I was playing in the biggest soccer game of the year.Â
Â
It was my school vs the rival school, and we were tied 2-2.Â
Â
Clock is running down.Â
Â
My teammate and I are running up the field, passing back and forth, flying by everyone.Â
Â
Guys on the other team are falling over trying to keep up with us. Itâs a masterclass in passing.Â
Â
We get all the way up the field on a little duo breakaway.Â
Â
I pass it to him so he can take this game-winning shot.Â
Â
He passes it back to me, and I immediately think âoh no, donât pass it to me. I donât want the pressure of having to take this shot. Iâm not the most competent player on the field. I will mess this up.âIâm panicking.Â
Â
I literally have a wide open net, but Iâm panicking.
Â
Of course, after having that thought, I kick it towards the goalâ¦
Â
And I air it.Â
Â
It goes right past the post and out of bounds.Â
Â
Pain. I look like an idiot. The team counted on me and I blew it.Â
Â
Huge L.Â
Â
But hereâs the thing:
Â
The only reason I missed that shot was because I told myself I would.Â
Â
I basically manifested that Iâd air it.Â
Â
I did that to myself.Â
Â
I put doubt in my head that became real.Â
Â
The moral of the dream is that I didnât have to do that.Â
Â
I missed the shot BECAUSE I said I would miss it.
Â
The reality is, I donât think like that anymore.Â
Â
When I was a kid playing soccer, those were the thoughts that would creep into my mind. I did not wanna have to be the one to take the game-winning shot, because I would convince myself that I was gonna miss it.Â
Â
Nowadays, I have a ton of confidence in my ability to do pretty much anythingâ¦
Â
BECAUSE of my self-talk before I take some sort of action.Â
Â
My self-talk is always positive.Â
Â
I always tell myself I can do stuff.Â
Â
I always think that Iâm the best option to do anything.Â
Â
I always speak these types of things into the world.Â
Â
And that is why Iâve had some decent success in copywriting, and generally in life.Â
Â
Iâve learned that success starts in the mind.Â
Â
It is imperative that you believe you can actually do something before you start to do it.Â
Â
I remember when I first started doing outreach when I started copywriting.Â
Â
When I started, I didnât really believe that it was a real thing. I was just going through the motions with my fingers crossed, hoping I hadnât been lied to about the idea of reaching out to business owners to pay me money.Â
Â
But once I got my first reply to a cold email, I realized that this WAS a real thing, and I COULD do this.Â
Â
I had conviction.Â
Â
My self-talk was much more positive.Â
Â
I knew that I was capable of making this work.Â
Â
And a few weeks after I started thinking like that, I started getting paid for my work.Â
Â
It was almost magic the way that I spoke it into existence.
Â
My mentality literally dictated reality.Â
Â
I watched it happen.
Â
The lesson here is you can control your self-talk, and you self-talk can control your destiny.Â
Â
And when you have a chance to take a game-winning shot (in any endeavor), you best believe that youâre gonna put that thing right in the back of the net.Â
Â
Yours truly,
Â
Alex.Â

Sent from my Fox 40 whistle (they call me the referee cuz I be so official ð¶ð¤) â  Iâm Back in Town After an Amazing Week:  I spent the past week in LA filming something really cool with Iman Gadzhi's team. Â
Everyone is pushing AI left and right, but the reality is that itâs overwhelming.
Â
Itâs incredibly difficult to know whatâs worth the time and effort and what isnât.
Â
As an ecommerce marketer, I wanted to share 5 quick lessons from an ecommerce brand called Clove on how theyâre adopting [Yuma AI for Customer Service:](
Â
â Try to use AI everywhere at once
â
Figure out what you want AI to do first and start small
Â
â Expect AI to just start working just because you paid for it
â
Dedicate someone from your team to lead the integration
Â
â Wait for others to prove AI until youâve fallen behind
â
Donât be afraid to start and take calculated risks
Â
â Adopt AI in a silo while teammates guess whatâs next
â
Get Buy-In from the entire Team
Â
â Proceed thinking AI is a plug-and-play system
â
AI is Not Plug and Play; Itâs a partnership journey Clove became one of the fastest-growing brands through the fast adoption of innovative tech.
Â
They achieved a 3x ROI and 25% cost savings in 3 months by automating 40% of their total support tickets with [Yuma AI.]( Â
Thanks to my partner Yuma AI for their support.
