Hi {NAME}! As we get ready to close out [our holiday campaign]( and another big year, I want to take a moment to thank you for the role that you’ve played in giving clean water in 2023. Part of my job at charity: water includes the incredible privilege of getting to travel around the world to visit our local partners and the communities they serve. Over and over again, I get to see firsthand the impact of your donations. And it’s never not emotional for me. Especially as I get older. I’m a father to two little boys. That’s an important detail here. A 4-year-old and an 8-month-old. So very much in the throes of diapers and bottles and wipes (and loving it). But also sleeping in four-hour increments and never wearing an unstained shirt (IYKYK). That experience has brought so much new perspective for me. And I have to tell you how grateful it makes me feel that you choose to support our work. Earlier this year, I was in a community in southern Malawi– that doesn’t have access to clean water today– and met a family with twin three-month-olds. My son was almost the exact same age at the time, and I couldn’t stop thinking about that as I listened to them describe their life. Dependent on a river bed miles away. Rationing water every day. Limited in opportunities to bathe or wash clothes. Toward the end of our time together, I asked the grandmother of that family how she imagines things will be different for her grandchildren once they have access to clean water, and her answer rocked me. She said, “At this moment, the suggestion is hard. These children pee and poop. That requires constant washing. But we don’t have enough water to do that. We try to clean those dirty clothes but we can’t throw away that water. We avoid even using soap because we know the water will get dirty. We’re just putting the same dirty water on the baby. It’s by the grace of God that these children are able to be living each and every day.” Being a parent is hard no matter where you live. But it is exponentially harder when you don’t have access to clean water. Which makes your support exponentially valuable. I hope you truly realize how significant it is that you, in a year of economic uncertainty, with so many other competing problems in this world, have chosen clean water. For parents, newborns, and grandmothers around the world. And if you haven’t given yet, it’s not too late! You can give right now at [charitywater.org/donate](. As always, 100% of your gift will fund clean water and stronger futures for families around the world. Wishing you a love-filled holiday season. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
