we are the masters of getting in our own way If you are having trouble viewing this email, [click here.](  You are receiving this email because you have expressed an interest in quality health and lifestyle tips. You can remove your email by clicking [unsubscribe]( at any time, or simply reply back to this email asking to be removed.  Here's Today's Tip... Power of Words. “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” How often have you heard or said that age-old nursery rhyme—to yourself or someone you care about? Probably more times than you can remember. And while it has good intentions, the reality is it couldn’t be further from the truth… Words have tremendous power. They can hurt, and they can heal. They can tear down someone’s world or build it up. Thanks in part to broadened lines of communication (like social media and text messaging), people are more likely than ever to rip each other apart with hurtful words (as they hide behind the veil of technology.) If that wasn’t bad enough, we are the masters of getting in our own way. Yes, it may seem like the world is out to get us, but we’ve got enough going on under the hood to take ourselves out of the game with self-sabotaging negative thoughts (i.e., inner dialogue) and harsh speech toward others. In his seminal book The Four Agreements, Don Miguel Ruiz urges readers to be impeccable with your word: - Speak with integrity. - Say only what you mean. - Avoid using words to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. - Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love. Your words have the power to both create and destroy. The words we choose build our own reality and the reality of those around us. Be thoughtful about what you say. You have great power in your speech that can unleash a forceful fury that can create, tear down, build, heal, or hurt. Every time you open your mouth is an opportunity to stay true to yourself and what you value…or an opportunity to stray from that path. It is up to you whether the self-fulfilling prophecies you articulate become a delight or a dungeon—for yourself and for others around you. As yourself… - How do I speak to myself and others? - In what way is my speech positive and encouraging? - In what ways do I have a hard time controlling my tongue? - How do others speak to you? Are there people around you who gossip and speak negatively about others? Who are the encouraging people who lift you and others up? - Think of an area of life you tend to complain about or speak negatively of. Challenge yourself to find a way to express gratitude every time you are tempted to complain. To a better understanding, Change That Up ------------------------------  Bonus - Stop Alzheimer's Disease. Harvard Medical School has just revealed a disturbing link between a common drink and skyrocketing rates of Alzheimer's disease. Because this everyday drink contains shocking levels of a toxic mineral that's present in nearly 98% of Alzheimer's patients' brains… Can you guess which one it is? [A) Black Coffee (Colombian Beans)]( [B) White Wine (Chardonnay Grapes)Â]( [C) Diet Soda]( [D) Tap Water]( [E) Beer]( Studies show that this toxic mineral builds in our brains over time… Killing off an important molecule that’s key for keeping our precious memories intact. Which not only leads to forgetfulness and “senior moments” as you age… But it’s also a shocking newly discovered root cause of Alzheimer’s disease. If you think it’s the drinks that contain alcohol… You might want to think again. This will surprise you! [Click here to see this memory destroying drink now.](  To better health,  Change That Up  Change That Up was founded to help replace old habits with positive, healthy habits. It is our core belief that you have the power to #changethatup when we’re stuck in rut. You can do this by using our powerful daily insights delivered to your inbox. We all grew up on the typical standard American diet. We followed the patterns and behaviors that we learned from everyone around us. When we all first started growing up and becoming adults, we started living a work life behind the desk. We got busy with life. We almost all fell out of any good habits that we had while growing up (this almost always happened unless you grew up in a home that taught good nutrition and healthy habits). As any adult in their 40s and 50s can relate, you feel a great amount of joy when you see your healthy habits create a life of freedom and happiness.  Through all the years of frustration, we eventually figured out that developing healthy habits requires surrounding yourself with positive influences that embody how you want to live. Here at Change That Up (with some help from our favorite health experts and practitioners along the way) we’ve developed a trusted newsletter that has helped thousands of men and women become better at living healthy, one positive change at a time. We give extra time and attention to break down big ideas into simplified, bite-sized insights for daily improvement.  With our daily email newsletter, you will become a much more confident, knowledgeable and healthy version of yourself. Our newsletter is packed with valuable insights and quality product recommendations for you. Our reader support team is also always at the ready to answer any questions you have about the emails we send out every day. We’re here to help!  The best part is that we update our content and recommendations regularly!
