Hey Boo! I’m kind of embarrassed to admit this, and feel like I owe you an apology. But as Oprah famously says, “when you know better, you do better.” You probably know I broke up with my scale years ago. I use my clothes, how I feel, how I think I look. But I rarely weigh myself. But recently I did a check up, and per usual, they asked me to hop on the scale. We had been traveling, less consistent with the exercise, a lot more dinners out. Stated another way, I had just been trying to live a little. Instead of waking up early to exercise before a flight, we just walked a little extra in the airport. It felt good, maybe even a little leaner than normal, but I was fully prepared to see a minor fluctuation. “Hmmm… you’ve lost 3 pounds. And 2 pounds the time before that. So that’s 5 pounds in the least 6 months. Are you doing something differently?” She asked “Yes,” I replied….”I’m enjoying myself”. (Side note: Have you seen the N e t f l i x Documentary: Live to 100, Secret of the Blue Zones? More about that in a minute) So here I sit, knowing so much more than I did when I was filming countless high intensity workout videos, guiding people around the world on how to “burn more fat.” What I know now seems so logical, so intuitive and so easy. It’s no wonder I thought it was just too simple. What I’m about to share is evidence-based research, as well as anecdotal, about the best and worst forms of exercise to keep you living longer, healthier, happier and with less stress. You need this information if you: - Believe a gentle workout isn’t as effective at burning fat - Stress out about your diet, macros, and getting everything perfect - Avoid exercise for a variety of reasons That probably covers most of you! But if you have a really healthy relationship with food and exercise and have virtually no stress, I invite you to pop down to my P.S. and get on with your day 😉. [image](=) You’ve probably heard me talk about my orthorexia and why I left the fitness industry. If not, [click here](=). But basically, I developed an unhealthy addiction to working out and eating tons of low-calorie fake foods to control my weight and maintain a look that was (and still is) the industry standard of health. Well, that philosophy was dead wrong. I was completely nutrient deficient, thrashing my hormones, beating up my body and stressing myself out. Here’s what I’ve learned: it doesn’t need to be so hard. And there are countless studies to prove it. Case in point, the N e t f l i x Documentary: Live to 100, Secret of the Blue Zones. [image]() Blue Zones are pockets of areas around the world (and there aren’t many) where the highest percentage of centenarians live. What’s most astonishing about these areas is what they have in common, and those things are easy, free, and so flipping logical. The net-net is that the people who live the longest simply move to do daily activities, eat real, whole food, surround themselves with family and community, and don’t stress (like at all) about tracking calories and perfecting their HIIT workouts. In fact, it’s been shown that worrying over exercise, coupled with the actual high-stress nature of beat-down workouts, might be shortening your life, not extending it. There are tons of biohackers out there who are complicating our quest for longevity, which just leaves us, the regular folks, paralyzed by all we need to do, eat, supplement with and buy in order to “not die.” It’s enough to make anyone want to give up, or not start at all! [image](=) Here’s the deal: stressing about all of those things will kill you far faster than if you just stopped worrying and went for a walk every day and ate foods that didn’t come out of a package. Period. Imagine for a moment what your day would be like if you woke up and didn’t worry about meal prepping, or how many minutes your tabata workout would be? What if you stopped counting calories and pounding your joints by running or doing 100 burpees? What if you surrendered to the fact that the stress you experience over perfecting your diet, exercise, parenting, job, sleep, and relationships is what’ll shorten your life? I know it sounds counterintuitive to workout less. I understand that giving up control over the tiny minutia that’s been occupying your days, weeks, and years feels scary. But all that perfectionistic worry does is raise your cortisol, make you store fat, not lose it, and wreak havoc on your cells. To truly level up, live longer, and feel better doesn’t cost a dang thing! I invite you to do less. Try some Zone 2 Cardio and just eat when you’re hungry. Stop when you’re 80% full. Choose real food. You really need to see and hear all the studies and watch the footage I [added to my YouTube for you](=). Logically, and biochemically, this makes sense. So, will you listen?
