What’s up ladies? Yes, this one’s geared for my gals, especially those of you 35 and older. If you know anyone in that age range, do them a favor and forward them this email. Why? Because what I’m about to say is important, and it’s going to happen to every woman at some point. So, in order to get ahead of it, you need to start preparing for it sooner. Like, way sooner than previously thought. It’s menopause and perimenopause. If you’re over 40, chances are, you’re talking to your friends about the mystery fluff around your midsection, lower sex drive, thinning hair, strange bouts of nausea, migraines, hot flashes and a bunch of other weird symptoms that are very likely all related. It’s a club no one’s too excited to join because the hormonal roller coaster is frustrating, unpredictable, depressing, and up until recently, the medical advice has been really unhelpful and, frankly, archaic. The latest research to come out in 2022 isn’t widely known or shared, even amongst medical professionals, and it’s partially why the younger generation isn’t preparing themselves early enough. It’s time to change that, get the word out, and save us all from the suffering our mothers and grandmothers went through. [image](=) Contrary to popular belief, I hope you know you’re not doomed to have weight gain, painful sex, low libido and joint pain. Sure, managing declining hormones is like orchestrating a giant symphony and expecting to get it right the first time. But I’m here to tell you, with patience and the right doctor, it’s possible to find the perfect “cocktail” of estrogen, progesterone and testosterone to make you feel like yourself again (or maybe even the 30-year-old version of you!). But here’s just some of the research no one’s talking about, and it’s pretty freaking ridiculous that we’re all still being fed misinformation about HRT (hormone replacement therapy) from 20 years ago that scared us into thinking it would cause cancer. - Women who start HRT earlier than 60 years old, and/or near menopause, significantly reduce all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease. HRT is superior to lipid regimens for cardiovascular disease. - Dietary magnesium and potassium intake may be associated with lower body fat in people with impaired glucose tolerance. Inadequate dietary mineral intake may contribute to obesity and metabolic disorders. (Yes, magnesium is an under-rated GAME-CHANGER!). - Hot flushes and night sweats are experienced by 50–80% of perimenopausal women. Obese premenopausal women are thought to have more severe symptoms, which is another reason HRT and weight reduction can help ease these annoying side effects. *** It is also very important that you speak with a doctor who specializes in hormonal care to evaluate, if in fact, you are a candidate, even if your current GP suggested you were not.*** Should everyone do HRT? Of course not. But in my opinion, considering the life-extending benefits–everyone should be fully informed so that they can truly make the best choice. Here’s the deal ladies: you need to be your own advocate and researcher. And the sooner you get ahead of it, the better. Here are my top rec’s to feeling better, keeping hormonal weight gain away and having a thriving sex life: - Change the way you exercise from endless cardio to less cortisol-inducing activities like weight lifting and walking - Get your hormone panels run often, and work with a naturopath or MD specializing in women’s health and HRT - Supplement with magnesium and collagen ([Click here](=) to learn why, how I do it, and which doctor I personally see). I’m also going to recommend that you catch one of the several interviews I’ve done with my favorite “tell it like it is” MD, Dr. Kelly Casperson. [image](=) [image](=) [image](=) The fact that mens’ health, erections and testosterone treatments are prioritized in the medical community, yet womens’ health remains crickets, is appalling. “When we care for the people that the people on Little Blue want to sleep with, everyone wins!”-Dr. Kelly Casperson What this means is: you need to fight for feeling good, and relentlessly stay the course until you look and feel well. Because you are normal. Your symptoms are normal. But they don’t have to become normalized or accepted just because some doctors aren’t willing to work tirelessly in your favor. Sometimes waiting until menopause to get a handle on your declining hormones means you’ve jumped in too late and have to unwind some damage. So do start getting checked in your mid-30’s, and don’t delay the moment things start to feel uncomfortable. Your future self will thank you! Love you, mean it, Chalene P.S. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
