Hey , 1. FAVORITE FINDS OF THE WEEK: As you probably know, weâve been living abroad for the summer (check out my IG story highlights to see what weâve been doing). All the travel has put a real halt to my online shopping. I didnât realize how much Amazon became a bedtime sleepy scroll habit for me. But fear not! I have no plans to kick the shopping habit. That would be a disservice to the global economy. Instead, Iâve opted to lull myself to sleep with the familiar glow of my Amazon app and simply move everything into my âsave for laterâ folder. ð Here's one I canât wait to try when we return to home base Miami: I donât care how big your kitchen is, everyone always needs two things - more space and a convenient sustainable cutting board. I saw a chef I follow on IG rave about [this extra large bamboo cutting board](=), which can conveniently sit on top of your stovetop! Lots of sizes to choose from. Even though youâll probably get yours delivered and in use before me, I had to share this kitchen must-have! 2. WHAT I'M WATCHING: What is it about a lineup of beautiful people with inspirational physiques that is just universally captivating? Throw in some white cowboy boots and rhinestones and Iâm locked in. Whether itâs the New York City Rockettes or Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, part of the mesmerizing allure has to be that theyâre all the same size, weight, dimensions, and âperfectâ symmetry, making the way they move even more alluring. I also know firsthand the behind-the-scenes reality. The torture, the unhealthy tactics, and sometimes dangerous measures that we women have been known to endure to achieve a âlook.â Iâve been binging [AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders]() (currently the #3 show on N e t f l i x). Iâm gonna recommend it with a caveat: it's some of the worst body shaming Iâve seen on TV since the 90s. The series does a fantastic job of sharing the stories of many veterans and rookies as they compete for a spot on the 2024 roster of 36 girls. These women are pushed to extremes, enduring physical and mental strain to fit this narrow ideal of DCC perfection. Dieting to the point of exhaustion, brutal jump splits and neck-wrecking hair flips for hours, all while their bodies are scrutinized and criticized publicly by a roster of judges. I donât like stepping on the scale in front of the nurse at my doctor's appointment. Can you imagine being weighed not only in front of the entire squad but the whole world?! The critical comments about their appearances made me gasp! Here are just a sampling of the comments: "Your legs are too short" âAre you sick? You look sickâ âOh wow, you have no buttâ âHer torso is too longâ "You need to lose five pounds" âShe needs a complete makeoverâ "You look stocky" "You need to tighten up" "You're not lean enough" "You need to tone your legs" âI wish Rachel was a bit curvier" "I donât like her hair" "If they have a really square body, it just doesn't work" "Her short legs really bother me" "Well, your weight is here, and we'd like it to be more here" Those off-the-cuff critiques often stay with us for a lifetime. There are over 100 examples from women in [my Patreon community](=) sharing their own stories of seemingly innocuous remarks made to them in childhood that to this day still haunts them. Enjoying this series makes me feel a bit guilty. I admit to loving watching beautiful people. Many of us do. It just sucks to know the cost these women will pay. If nothing else, I hope viewers see that the effortless beauty we admire sometimes comes with the hefty price tag of eating disorders, self-disdain, and hip replacement by age 30. It is a very well-done series. But let's be real - this isn't just about fitting into an iconic uniform, itâs much deeper than that. 3. LET'S TALK ABOUT IT: In [this week's episode of The Chalene Show](=), I had the pleasure of chatting with Dr. Vonda Wright, a double-board-certified orthopedic sports surgeon and women's health expert. We dive deep into the importance of bone health and the critical role it plays in our overall well-being. Dr. Wright shares how our bones are not just structural support, but master communicators that store minerals and impact our entire body's health. She discusses the significance of maintaining bone density and muscle mass as we age to prevent the debilitating effects of osteoporosis and fractures. Trust me, this episode is a must-listen if you want to live a long, healthy, and vibrant life. Dr. Wright breaks down the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause, explaining how hormonal changes impact our bones and muscles. We explore important steps to maintain bone health, including lifting weights, staying active, and considering hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Wrightâs insights are informative, empowering, and encouraging. Our conversation is packed with actionable advice and inspiring stories that will motivate you to prioritize your bone and overall health. I love you, I mean it, Chalene P.S. If what I said above about Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, then you will feel right at home with the women in [my Patreon](=). It's been eye-opening for me to see the hundreds of examples of negative things they have heard about their bodies, sometimes 30 years ago, that still bother them today.
