I see people looking for help. I read what’s bothering them. And I feel their pain. [Chabad.org]( By the Grace of G‑d 14 Tevet, 5784 - Dec. 26, 2023 Dear Friend, I hope this note finds you and yours well. I’m writing today because we could really use your help. Like a receiving resident in the emergency room, I do the “triage” for the flood of questions like these we receive ‘round the clock at Chabad.org. The terrorist attacks in Israel and the subsequent rise in anti-semitism have stirred deep feelings in Jews everywhere. Some grapple with shock, confusion, and a quiet fear. Others are confronting a profound pain of loss and a piercing sense of injustice. Many are exploring their common heritage of Torah — and discovering new observances of mitzvot — with an intense yearning to connect to the Divine and to express their Jewish identity and solidarity. They are all searching for a deeper connection, greater understanding, and a sense of purpose and personal growth. Some are asking painful questions like: “Can I be Jewish in public and be safe?” “Will I ever meet my cousins again? Can you help me learn about heaven and about souls?” “Do my actions matter to anyone?” “Is there a prayer I can say for Israel's safety? Can you teach me how to pray?” “Can you help us get a menorah into the hands of our lone soldier stationed near Lebanon?” I process the incoming emails, prioritize them, and assign each to an appropriate rabbi, rebbetzin, counselor, teacher or activist. I see the people looking for help. I read the questions that are bothering them. And I feel their pain. We are exceptionally busy right now, as the flow of people seeking help has dramatically increased. Yet, the demand is always there; people turn to Chabad.org throughout the year with urgent requests. We continuously receive messages from individuals across the globe, all seeking support and direction. - …the family who is struggling with their children’s Jewish education. - …the senior who spends 80% of his time in bed… feeling extremely alone, pondering his 89 years, and looking for someone to remind him why and how to celebrate his Judaism. - The mother who's anxious about her son's spiritual connections while exploring Tanzania. She wants to send him a pair of tefillin to don along with someone to show him how. Each time he wraps will serve also as a tangible reminder of his mother's love and will help collapse the distance between them. - …the young woman mourning her mother and looking for a Jewish perspective on how to deal with pain, loss, and a broken heart. I’m reaching out to you to help them because I see firsthand what they are going through. It is really gut-wrenching. The volume of these requests has been staggering, kind of like drinking from a firehose… Our team works around the clock to meet the pressing and diverse needs of so many from all walks of life. But they really need a hand from people like yourself to provide the funds to keep this all going. Indeed, friends like you have been with us all along to help those in need. Your giving makes it all possible. [Please donate here.]( No person is insignificant, no task too difficult, and no goal insurmountable to help every single individual worldwide!
