Ukraine and Russia have been at war since 2014, but the full blown invasion this year shook the West to its core and galvanized the US and Europe to ship an unprecedented level of military aid to Ukraine. But in a conflict where the US and other NATO nations can’t risk direct confrontation with Russia, and where front lines are scattered and conditions change without warning, not all of those billions of dollars in military supplies reach their destination. Some also reported weapons are being hoarded, or worse, fear that they are disappearing into the black market, an industry that has thrived under corruption in post-soviet ukraine.
