Friend – before I was the first Latina to serve in the U.S. Senate and before I was Nevada's attorney general, I was fresh out of law school (that's me above on the day I graduated). If you had told me back then – a young idealistic lawyer – that women’s constitutional rights would be stripped away by an ultraconservative Supreme Court majority – that five justices would overturn a longstanding precedent that the majority of Americans support – I wouldn’t have believed you. For the first time in our nation's history, a constitutional right has been taken away. Think about that. If they can do this, nothing is safe. Marriage equality, contraception, – you name it – this court is ready to overturn it. That’s why our most sacred rights are on the line in this election. If Republicans retake the Senate, Mitch McConnell will pass a nationwide abortion ban, and then he’ll come after even more of our freedoms! [So today, with our rights on the line, I'm asking you to chip in whatever you can spare to help me keep Nevada and our Senate blue.]( If you've saved payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: [DONATE $5]( [DONATE $25]( [DONATE $50]( [Donate another amount]( When the Roe v. Wade ruling first began to guarantee reproductive freedoms, I was only eight years old. I came of age in a time when a woman's right to choose was the law of the land. It's unfathomable to me that young girls all over America could grow up in a country where their bodily autonomy is dictated by politicians – where they no longer have the right to choose. Friend, as Nevada's attorney general, I spent nearly a decade working to protect Nevadans and vulnerable women and girls. Now, as a U.S. senator, I’ll keep fighting with everything I have to protect a woman’s right to choose. But the truth is, I cannot win this fight on my own – and the first hurdle is defending Nevada's seat and our Democratic Senate majority from my Trump-endorsed opponent. Right now, he's leading in the polls, and if we're not careful, he could be the 51st vote for a nationwide abortion ban. [So please, can I count on you, friend? Will you rush $5 or more to help me defend our Democratic Senate majority? Our rights and the future of our democracy depend on it.]( ¡La lucha sigue! The fight continues! Catherine [CONTRIBUTE]( If Democrats want to protect our razor-thin Senate majority, we MUST defend Nevada’s Senate seat – but Catherine’s race is currently a toss-up.
