Since the early beginnings of this pandemic, I've been fighting to ensure that the health, safety, and well-being of the American people remain a top priority.
I'm proud to be a part of the ongoing coronavirus relief effort in Congress, including serving on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis. With my colleagues, we have passed the Families First Coronavirus Act and the CARES Act, and just this week, my fellow House members and I passed a second version of our latest relief bill - the $2.2 billion HEROES 2 Act, in hopes to get a third federal stimulus bill, the HEROES Act, passed â as soon as possible.
I am doing everything on the federal level to ensure that the American people have the support and resources they need to make it through this pandemic and lead our country to a speedy and safe recovery, because the first job of our government is to ensure the health and safety of the American people.
Only together can we beat this if we continue to take it seriously with a united front. That means each of us doing our part to follow the CDCâs recommended guidelines: wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, and practice smart and safe social distancing.
We are all human. Many of us have lost loved ones and friends, and nobody is immune to this terrible virus. So let's strive to be mindful and compassionate of others. Remember: it's not just our individual health at risk, but our collective health and safety as a nation.
