Friends & Neighbors,
September 11th. A date that we truly will never forget. The day that, in 2001, shook our entire country, especially right here in New York City.
"Never Forget" is still a meaningful phrase today â not just to honor the memories of those who suffered, risked their lives, lost loved ones, or passed away on this tragic day, but also as an important reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together and demand that the government fulfill its number one duty: helping people.
Over the past seven months, we have struggled with one of the greatest humanitarian disasters of our lifetime, as millions have fallen ill, and hundreds of thousands have died. And earlier this week, our nation was rocked by a stunning revelation: it simply didnât have to be this way.
I spent 18 years fighting alongside the 9/11 community to ensure that they had permanent health care and compensation, and I donât want to spend the next 18 years fighting to force our government to compensate millions of Americans who never should have gotten sick with COVID-19 in the first place. I want a Senate that cares about helping Americans weather this crisis and passes the emergency relief bills the House has already sent them.
Most of all, I want a President who is willing to follow science and evidence, and tell the American people the truth, no matter how scary it may be â and who will then lead us out of this pandemic.
So today, on 9/11, I am honoring my promise to âNever Forgetâ by asking you to ensure your voice is heard this Election Day.
