Teaming With Others As A Co-Sponsor:
Aside from the bills above that Carolyn has been lead sponsor on, she has also been an adamant supporter of several other bills through her work this Congress. Sheâs remained a staunch advocate for the Green New Deal and Climate Action Now, as well as the Equality Act and Equal Rights Amendment. She has also fought to preserve the ACA and to make healthcare affordable and accessible and has supported bills like the Lower Prescription Drug Costs Now Act of 2019. Remaining Committed To Committees:
In addition to being elected as the first woman to chair the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, Carolyn is also a senior member of the Committee on Financial Services and the Joint Economic Committee, and was appointed to the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.
Responding Effectively to COVID-19:
The coronavirus crisis has had far-reaching impacts that require effective and responsible leadership, which Carolyn has demonstrated through her role in the response efforts. She joined House colleagues in detailing critical provisions in the CARES Act and HEROES Act stimulus packages â ensuring that working families and businesses are prioritized in receiving relief. As a member of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis as well as chairwoman of the Oversight Committee, Carolyn has used her roles to demand transparency of taxpayer dollars, to guarantee affordable vaccines, and to expand health care protections. The USPS has suffered greatly through this pandemic, and Carolyn has fought hard to secure funding for the postal service and its workers. She continues to make sure that our essential workers are taken care of on the frontlines by helping healthcare workers with student debt and seeking an increase in PPE, as well as making sure they are compensated for their public service during this crisis.
Overseeing Government Officials:
Carolyn became the first woman to chair the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform where she continues to work with colleagues on holding the administration and public officials accountable to the American people. She has demanded transparency of taxpayer dollars, particularly as it pertains to the COVID-19 stimulus funding, and has teamed up with other Oversight members to limit corruption and abuse of power in the White House. She also played an instrumental role in the impeachment of Donald Trump as part of her Oversight duties.
Continuing To Fight For Us:
There is no fight that Carolyn will shy away from when it comes to keeping Americans safe and supported â and she won't stop until the job is done. Other major priorities that Carolyn has been at the forefront of include: ensuring an accurate and safe census, providing food and housing security, supporting our veterans, participating in natural disaster relief efforts, standing up against discriminatory policies, expanding healthcare protections, condemning the administration's harsh border policies, reducing harmful environmental emissions, building key infrastructure in her district, fighting for equal pay, closing educational gaps, protecting reproductive rights, and so much more.
Carolyn has proven yet again during this 116th Congress that she is willing to roll up her sleeves to get the job done, and she consistently continues to deliver for us. The primary election on JUNE 23 is only a few days away, so let's make sure we re-elect her!
